Hey Fools! -- This is no joke! It's the Monthly Step Challenge for April!

OK, you know you made some foolish promises to yourself in January and now you are trying to pretend that never happened, right?  Well, one fourth of 2018 has come and gone.  It is April now and with a nod toward the foolishness in all of us, it’s time for a reset — maybe with some more realistic goals going forward 🙂

   
How It Works:

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges has been to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

 

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

 

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

 

Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

 

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you use set out to do by updating the thread several times/week

 

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Since April has 30 days I may actually change goals for the better on the 16th... just haven't decided yet.

- 10 Coach/body-weight workouts: 6/10
-Sleep 6+ hours 12 days or more during the month: 5/12

 

15 minutes short on the sleep goal last night.  Pffft.

12 April  Oh dear lousy very windy weather again so better do a coach workout in the next couple of days as I doubt I'll be out on my bike!

 Hmm, falling a bit behind on the 15K days.  Considering how close I have been 3 out of the last 4 maybe I should pay some attention and get a couple minutes in before bed.

Have to rethink the challenge workout.  Want to start lifting.  Have to do the work to rehab the joints.  Not being good about that but I strained my hip Tuesday -sitting?  So back to just walking for now.

I will not make goal tomorrow.

 

I'm off for a paint nite again. Drinking beer and painting for 3 hours. Who could want more?

 

Not me. My BFF and I do this monthly.

 

The Hubby's sit and drink beer and chat. All good fun for all of us

Been very sluggish the last few days.  Not feeling motivated. 

 

@WendyB- I've always wanted to do a paint night.  It's not something dh would be into, but a local brewpub does them so maybe he would go for the beer.

I didn’t meet any of my goals today, but I wanted to report. Actually, it occurred to me that I won’t meet all of them this month, but I’ll see how far I get. Pity I didn’t count floors this time.  Today I went up 11!

So my April goals are to Average:

14 k steps per day 

30 floors per day

7 miles per day

 

Week one 4/1 - 4/7 averages based on above goals

Step average:  17,264        high days, 22,438, 20,572, 22,570

Floor average:  33

Mile average;  7.82           High miles, 10.2, 10.1    Yesterday included a 5 mile walk besides my regular duties.

 
Week 2, 4/8 - 4/14         I've started walking West up the hill, then returning down to my house and going north up the hill there, go 4 to 6 miles just doing this.  I also make sure to do minimum of 250 steps per hour from 7 am to 9 pm. Has really improved my step count. 
 
Step average: 19,976      High days, 24,731, and 26,376
Floor average: 62              High day 99
Mile average: 9.18            High day 12.14

Ahh yesterday was a better day. Went for a walk by myself to clear my mood.  Halfway through my walking partner called and we met up at the theatre to walk to the grocery to get change for the show last night.  I was concerned because this was the longest continuous walk with the neuroma, but it did well.  Finally getting enough foot strength and losing enough weight to protect it a bit.  I still know it is there but it didn't get the vice grip pain.

At the last minute I had to go in and work the show which ended up being kind of exciting because we had a medical issue backstage (fortunately our drummer is an active nurse and our oboeist is a retired OB ) so I had to take over as stage manager to get the second act going. Fortunately the wife of the clarinet player was running concessions and was able to take over lobby duties for the intermission since she has been there for years. (Yup its that small of a world - the oboe player delivered both my babies.)

Really slept in last night.  I no longer wear my fitbit at night but I think I got at least 8 1/2 hours.

and now ooooOOOOOKLAHOMA! where the winds come sweeping down the plain....
