Hey Fools! -- This is no joke! It's the Monthly Step Challenge for April!

OK, you know you made some foolish promises to yourself in January and now you are trying to pretend that never happened, right?  Well, one fourth of 2018 has come and gone.  It is April now and with a nod toward the foolishness in all of us, it’s time for a reset — maybe with some more realistic goals going forward 🙂

   
How It Works:

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges has been to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

 

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

 

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

 

Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

 

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you use set out to do by updating the thread several times/week

 

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Ran for 20 minutes at a very slow pace, but then when I walked afterwards my neuroma was pissed.  Ended the day with a dance party to get the burn up.  Sadly my kids have no shared music tastes.  dd (14) likes classical and showtunes, ds (11) likes imagine dragons and acid rock.

8 years ago I ran Boston.  Thinking of all my Boston friends today in the snow and mud and rain and wind.

 I didn't do yesterday.  Anything.  I didn't do.  I would say it was a rest day but it was more a sloth day.  Man my sleep was crap last night.  Enough of that. 

The rain has stopped finally!!!!!!  Maybe we will actually get some spring!  Ooops, spoke to soon, its supposed to rain a little bit this morning and then stop for the rest of the week.  I hope so.  My son has 3 baseball games this week and he is itching to play.   We have only had one dry day since I did the first half of my garden at the end of March.  At least I haven't had to worry about watering in the transplants.  Maybe I can make some progress on the other half by the end of the week.  At least some of my strawberry transplants appear to be growing so I think I can rip out the old location.

 Well, its getting mathematically challenging to make most of my goals now, but onward.  I thought I would get a second walk in yesterday but walking the nephew in the continued rain wasn't an option. I'm too old for a toddler!

I really enjoy reading everybody’s extra bits from your personal lives, even if I just :white_heavy_check_mark: without a comment. I, too, have days when I don’t want to do anything (one day I had fewer than 3,000 steps — talk about a couch potato!!!). Would love to have seen Oklahoma  in your community theater @Ennay. And I’d join in if we could get a ‘virtual’ painting (drinking) party going. 🤗

 FINALLY Sun.  Two short walks yesterday.  Today I walked errands. and hope to walk to work tonight.  Trying to convince myself to work in this sunshine is HARD.  And tomorrow BASEBALL!!!  I should get lots of walking done during baseball, he usually has to be to the games 1 hour ahead of time.  Two other moms on the team walk during warmups and practices but when I tried to join them they blew me off.  I can walk with my own **ahem** self.

 Started off this morning with an early walk to meet friends for coffee.  Have a working walk planned for later.  Have definitely figured out that my mood issues are relating to my job so may need to think about how to deal with that better.  I literally do not get paid enough for it to cause me this much stress.

Well, Swiss weather has made a quick transition from winter to summer, with hot days, but cool, spring like temps in the evenings. My pansies had such a shock most of them died of heat stroke. So got some pretty pink petunias. Realized today this may be my last year to have so many flowers ... as it take such a lot of time EVERY day to water them — and it’s only April! Ah well, keeps me active. Happy weekend Peeps!
