I live about four miles from my workplace and although I haven't yet walked all four miles to or from work, there are a few games I play during the week to increase my stepcount.
Some days I'll take the hillier, windier, unnecessarily long route to BART (San Francisco's heavy-rail rapid transit system). Almost always, I forgo the escalator for the stairs. Today, that act alone added 5 flights of stairs and over 250 steps to my morning journey.
My other favorite "cheat" is high stepping in place. Sure, I may look a little odd bouncing up and down while typing at my makeshift standing desk, but it feels good to keep the blood flowing and the legs moving!
What do you do to get your extra steps in?
I do jumping jacks in place. I try to do them in the morning and again in the evening before bed just to get a few more steps in before I call it a night. I also like to march in place which tickles my husband but I just got my FitBit Flex for my birthday this past weekend so I'm still really excited about racking up the steps and burning calories. Between the jumping jacks, marching in place and running 3 miles/day, I've been able to get an average of 15,000 steps in. 🙂

I will never be the stepper that you are, your numbers are crazy amazing. I'm averaging 20K steps per day.
Zee: it is important to realize your current step count already puts you in the very top range of the total population. My average daily step count is "only" 16,500 right now, and look where that puts me:
I think there's a sweet spot somewhere (not the same for everyone, of course) beyond which extra steps become counter-productive.

I aim for Zee's steps too, and Ali's! I usually average 15K a day, still working back up to that after my accident but got 10K plus yesterday again woohoo! Shattered today so this might not be such a good day. Well done Dominique - your steps are fab too. I am up in that percentile too usually, the encouragement and friendly competition here really motivates me, plus how great I feel when I am fit, and after a workout. Keep stepping all 🙂 I am coming back and stepping towards you!!!!

Is that graph located on our dashboards?
I'm afraid it's only available if you have the Premium package (that's the Plus sign next to my profile's photo). I believe there's a free one-week trial.
It's the Rank Yourself Against Your Peers feature in Premium.

Best AnswerZee yes there is, I have got the premium package as I like the Weekly fitness plan which lets you set a goal for each week over 12 weeks. Click on Premium at the top of the Dashboard screen and you get all the info there. You get loads of graphs like the one Dominique posted too to compare yourself, which of course will show you right up there with the best of them! Brilliant!
Re the weekly report yes Fitbit has some tech issues (I didn't get the last 2) and there was a post on the Help forums discussion about it. They are working on the problem 🙂
Keep stepping Zee, you are really keeping me and loads of others going here!!!! xx
