I too have a desk job. My office building is 10 stories and has a parking garage. When the weather is bad, I do the stairs from top to bottom 3 times a day during the work week. When the weather is nice, I walk the parking deck for 30 minutes at lunch. When I do one of these, I typically end the day with 10k steps without adding any additional exercise at home.

I work at a computER all day. The day goes by quickly and if I can get 6k steps a day that is a lot. I take the long way to the bathroom to get more steps and walk at lunch. What are some other tips to increase the step count. Also looking for friends so I can compare my steps vs theirs to get more motivated and see some other numbers. Please add me. Thanks

20-25 minute walk at lunch.
Use the furthest bathroom
40 minute walk with the dog in the evening to disconnect (no phone/ipod)
That will get me to 10K fairly easily.
In addition, I've joined a couple pick-up basketball leagues that play 4-5 times a week to add in true cardio and I lift 3-4 times a week.

I work behind an desk all day as well. If I physically can't get outside or out to go for some walks, I usually stand in place and walk. I also park further out in the parking lot and walk out to get the mail at the road.

Well, I do the treadmill in the morning for about 30 minutes. Then, I usually will take 2 10-15 minute breaks in the morning and afternoon. During the breaks I walk to each end of my floor 3-4 times and go up and down the stairs twice. I will usually hit my 10K a little after I get home.

I set the alarm on my watch for 30 minutes and when it goes off I get up and walk around for 5 minutes. It's not good for your lymphatic system, in particular, to stay seated for hours on end.
