Jumping January 2018 Step Challenge

Welcome to 2018.  It is a new year, and time to get another monthly challenge underway

How It Works:

The primary purpose of this challenge is to keep track of your daily step goals for January 2018 (though as you will see below, other goals for the month are just fine). This is not a competition to see who can do the most amount of steps, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of 31 for the month can you hit your goal.

Some of you might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and some might have a variable goal throughout the week, for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = 6k steps a day
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for this challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.

Optional
3) Post either your constant or variable (anything you want) goal.
4) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.

The optional items can really be anything. Running, biking, weight lifting, food goals, etc. Some will add a goal that is not daily - ie. wanting to do so many strength training workouts in the month - so you might be aiming for a number that is less than 31 for some goals -- maybe 5, 10, or 15. Really, it's just completely open.

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and decide scale back the number of steps due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your daily step goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Here are my results to date 5 Jan

Step goal                                    5/7   (5/31)

Plank                                           3/5   ( 3/29)

Swim                                           2/2   (2/8)

Bike or extra Fitbit Coach         0/1    (0/4)

Fitbit Coach                                1/1    (1/4)

I'm going to modify my goals a bit because I doubt I will get out on my bike this week. It has been really windy every day. So if I cant do a bike ride due to the weather I will substitute an extra Fitbit Coach workout.

Hi all, I am new to all of this forum discussion stuff, however I am not new to daily goals/monthly goals. I have increased all my settings for this yea 2018 and have allowed myself to miss a day of goal reaching for my floors only as I compensate by going overboard to ensure I am meeting my weekly total for that goal. My set Steps are 17000, Floors 35, Calories 3000, Kilometres 10.0, Active minutes 60. I am really pushing myself this year I have figured out that with my 250 + steps per hour setting that I aim for at least 1000 steps for that hour. I am tracking well it is day 6 and my totals reflect a surplus for week 1 so much so that I could do nothing on Sunday, however that is not the primary purpose of this challenge so I have determined this year or for this month  of January to follow the criteria and do my **ahem**dest to reach my steps each day. My current totals as of 6th of January 2018 at the time of writing this post Steps 121,800, Floors 361, Kilometres 87.19, Calories 21,560, Active minutes 829. Happy goal reaching. Catch you all when I return to update for week 1. Regards Jaimie

January 5

15K steps/day  5/31

1 pushup/day   5/31

1 pullup/day   5/31

12 weight-lifting days  3/12

No alcohol for the month  (What?)  5/31

Fitbit says that my average steps are down 5% compared to the previous 28 days.  I think it will pick up after this arctic weather moves on.  But in the meantime I'll credit this challenge with pushing me to 15K each day so far.

Hi all.  I haven't logged for a few days.  I've been sick with a wicked cold. Needless to say I have not worked out.  My Fitbit battery needed charging and I didn't even realize it.  Hoping to do something tomorrow.

So I'm still at :

Goal =

Steps = 10,000 per day.

Use my Total Gym 3 times a week. I'm going to change this to 15 x this month.

Adding:

Free weights 15 x

Start Date 1/2/2018

Step goal  1/31

Total Gym 0/15

Free weights 0/15

Jan 6: Completed 1/4: 25,938 steps.

Day 6

8000 steps: 13,000         6/7 (56/31)

5 floors: 17 (according to my fitbit, might have been some less)    6/7 (6/31)

Meditation: 10 min          6/7 (6/31)

Today is the 7th day, so time for a weekly review of my goals.

- 8000 steps might seem to be a bit low, I was over 10,000 every single day last week, but I had a week of from work, which gave me the opportunity to move more.
So, for next week, my step goal remains the same, but it's more of: '8,000 is the bare minimum, I should aim for 10,000.'

- 5 floors: The minimum this week was 7 floors, and at work it should be easier to get some floors in (the stairs in my house seem to have just not enough steps to be counted. Today I have gone up and down the stairs 4 times already, and my fitbit indicates only one, because I remembered to lift my arm to shoulder heigth when I came upstairs.  That's really the only way to let my Charge 2 count the stairs here at home...).  So for next week, my goal will be 7 floors.

- meditation: just consistently going on... I've a streak of 570 days now, it would be a pity to break that chain Smiley Wink

So for next week only a tiny adjustment: 7 instead of 5 floors...
