Kickboxing burning 1k + calories per session

So a few years ago, before I introduced myself to FitBit, I started training in Muay Thai.  Figured I was burning around 700-800 calories per 2 hr session... started training again recently to discover it's more like 1,400 - 1,800 per session.  I'm pretty sure as I lose weight, that number will decline significantly.  Anyone else training in Muay Thai have similar results?

Which Fitbit tracker did you wear back then, and which is your current one? Asking as many people do upgrade to newer models. It would make a big difference (in terms of perceived activity by your tracker) if you had – say – a Fitbit One (clipped on your waist, no heart rate monitoring) vs. a Fitbit Versa (worn on your wrist, has HR monitoring).

Muay Thai training is very, very intense. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the new numbers were correct.

I would assume the new numbers are fine, then watch the scale. If you start to gain weight, then you'll know the new figure is too high. It takes a little experimentation.

If I may ask, how are you wearing the Ftibit so it doesn't get destroyed during fights?

So chances are you were using another Fitbit, back "a few years ago", when you were "only" burning 700-800 per session?

Unless your change in weight is dozens of pounds, your real energy expenditure while performing the same activity won’t change significantly.

I actually wrap up my wrists and use a sport band when training/sparring.  It usually ends up inside my glove.

I didn’t use a tracker 3 years ago.  The 700-800 was a guess.

that is insane calorie burn. if I don't move much that is my total for the entire day. and yes, you should start burning less as you get slimmer, but even still it will be a significant burn for an activity. I am going to have to look it up now to see what it is
