If you're an Amazon Prime subscriber, the Music app is worth a look.
Although I prefer to listen to the sounds of nature.
The wind in the trees, waves on the shore, bird song, crickets chirruping, etc., etc.

at the gym in wifi I use my old phone to listen to Pandora- its the only app I have on it and I don't care how quick the battery drains. If I am hiking, I will use my old ipod if its charged or nothing and just take in the noises around me.

I have an iPod Touch, and I just created a walking playlist of songs I like to walk to. That might be better than using Pandora.

Ipod plus headphones with several different playlists depending on the mood I'm in when I go to my local gym.Its usually the one with Green Day,Blink 182,the Enemy etc which gives me a good start to my workout. The music in my gym drives me nuts so my ipod is a godsend.

@Dave001 Thanks for tip about Amazon prime music. I just downloaded the app and see there is a great selection and playlist already created to try. I'm going to give it a try now on a morning walk. Sunny in Seattle and music to listen too = beginning of a great day!

I use Apple Music. I create a heap of playlists to alternate between depending on mood and the tempo of music. Songs can be downloaded onto device to save data (here in OZ data plans are expensive and Pandora has stopped operating out here).
Spotify is also supposed to be quite good.

I pay for Spotify premium - its amazing, no adverts and whatever music you fancy.
They also design playlists for your mood/workout e.g. rock workout, run n bass, 90s workout.
Best thing with premium is you can download the music to the app so you can listen off line - makes it a lot gentler on the battery life and your data allowance!

I am using Spotify. I pay for premium so there are no ads and I can save playlists offline. Also it is easy to create playlists by adding a few songs on my own and after I get song suggestions to choose from, based on them. Ahh, and I have the app installed on a separate old phone I use now as music player.

Amazon Music App, I make sure all my other apps are closed. If I use the Fitbit exercise setting and music it eats up my battery on my iPhone. Most of the time when I get to a certain area in my walk the gps goes wild and shoots me all over the place? So I seldom use the exercise tracking option.this helps with battery usage. I walk for an hour so it still gets picked up as exercise,

I don't go anywhere without my Shuffle I-pod. I filled it with songs that have a great beat to make my feet move quicker, and time just flies. And the step count racks up....

I've been listening to Podcasts to distract my brain while I'm out walking. Though if I've caught up in Podcasts, I will occasionally stream music through SiriusXM (I've a subscription from my car). Other than that, I have an iPod that I loaded music on to, and will either do shuffle in a genre, or set up playlists of music.

If you have an Iphone, I recommend Apple music.
