Nifty November Step Challenge and Scavenger Hunt
Wow. It’s November. The year is nearly gone, but we’ve still got time for another challenge or two.
General monthly instructions are below, including the monthly picture scavenger hunt.
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total
Picture Scavenger Hunt
While you are out and about getting in your walks/hike/rides this month take a few pics that show the changing seasons in your area, fall (or spring) colors, holiday displays, if you are in a beach area, the boardwalk shutting down or opening up, something that shows change or inspires the time of year.

Spooky October Night - Baltimore
Posting
Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

As of 11/24:
Nifty November Goals:
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I ran 3 miles on Thanksgiving morning before I started cooking. But I've been eating too much (so much yummy food!), though at least I'm keeping up with my activity level. Ran again yesterday with my husband -- I ran 3.3 miles, he ran 1.5 miles.
I picked up some new workout clothes, so that's really exciting. New workout clothes are always motivating! Today is a strength training day, looking forward to it and then tomorrow is rest day before I jump back into my running training plan again.

Can't believe it's almost time to be dashing through December. Need to start thinking about goals for the month. I'm going away on Christmas Day for two weeks, the first of which will be without wi-fi (so no posting then), so that's going to have to shape what I plan to do for the month.

1 pushup/day | 25/30 | |

Sleep 6+ hours 12 days or more during the month | 9/12 | |
Weight loss of 2-4 lbs (Nov 1 = 160.2 on TW) | Nov 25 | -0.7 |
Down 0.4 lbs this week, so my loss for the month is now at -0.7 lbs.
Got a little extra exercise when I put my gloves in my vest pockets while riding my bike this morning. After about 10 miles I pulled over to check something and realized I only had ONE glove in one vest pocket, and the other pocket was empty. Apparently bounced the one out. Turned around. Found it about 20 minutes later. (Thought I spotted several times from a distance, but it turns out that several dog walkers in that neighborhood apparently use poop bags, but for some reason like to drop them in the middle of the street. Yuck!)

weight loss not going well, gained back 1 lb of the 2 I lost. Must be eating more now that the weather is cooler and rainy. I have spent a bit of time in my shop, here are pics of my latest project.
The flowers and stems are made from wood, stems are bent while damp. Flower petals carved from Oak and glued on stems. Paints via airbrush. The vase started as a Mushroom with removable cap, the cap is also a candy bowl.

Nifty November has been fairly active for me - glad to finally see progress. Here are my stats from last week:
Daily Step Goal: 7k minimum
11/20: 11,753 steps
11/21: 11,586 steps
11/22: 6,786 steps
11/23: 7,400 steps

On average, I was able to do about 9k steps per day last week.
4 more days left in November, lets get it!

As of 11/27:
Nifty November Goals:
Half marathon training has begun! Slowly working on increasing my weekly mileage. Runs are to be longer, but slower. Did 3.7 miles this morning on the treadmill and I'm feeling really good. I'm a little ahead of the half marathon training -- I want to run the OKC Memorial Marathon in April (I'm only planning on running the half marathon part of the race) in remembrance of the Oklahoma City Bombings that occurred in 1995. I've been told it's a very powerful and meaningful experience because you pass 168 banners -- each banner is the name of a person who was killed in the attack.
I think that is an amazing race for my first half.
