Nifty November Step Challenge and Scavenger Hunt

 

Wow.  It’s November.  The year is nearly gone, but we’ve still got time for another challenge or two.

 

General monthly instructions are below, including the monthly picture scavenger hunt.                                
How It Works

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

 

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

 

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

 

Suggested Posting Format    
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

 

Picture Scavenger Hunt

While you are out and about getting in your walks/hike/rides this month take a few pics that show the changing seasons in your area, fall (or spring) colors, holiday displays, if you are in a beach area, the boardwalk shutting down or opening up, something that shows change or inspires the time of year.

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week

 

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

My last update was 11/8 then life happened, the weather in Houston got crappy and I got lazy! Needless to say, posting daily was low on my to do list - so now I'll be playing a quick game of catch up. 

 

  • Fri - 11/9/18: 9,989 Steps
  • Sat - 11/10/18: 2,984 Steps
  • Sun - 11/11/18: Rest Day (no tracking)
  • Mon - 11/12/18: Veterans Day Holiday/Off Work ( sofa all day)
  • Tue - 11/13/18:  6,517 Steps
  • Wed - 11/14/18: 5,710 Steps
  • Thurs - 11/15/18: 4,000 Steps
  • Fri - 11/16/18: 5,186 Steps
  • Sat - 11/17/18: 2,226 Steps
  • Sun - 11/18/18: Rest Day (no tracking)
  • Mon - 11/19/18: 10,797 Steps

 

Average Steps for the last 11 days was about 4,310 per day - Not the best being that my daily step goal is 7k. Gonna push myself for the last 11 days of November...shooting for at least 10k per day to balance out my lazy days! Hope everyone is crushing their goals!

I had some dental work done yesterday and today so my steps were a little low (for yesterday at least) and I didn't get all of my 250 steps per hour in.  But there is still time.

 

Here are my goals for November along with my current status (as of 3pm on 11/21):

Use the fitbit for 17 days: 8/17

Get 5,000 steps on 10 days:  1/10

Get 250 steps per hour for 120 hours this month: 37/120

 

Even though we have events tomorrow and Friday I am going to really try to be moving every hour... at least 250 steps per hour!

@BaltoscottNice tree.  There was a person here that put up there Christmas lights the week of Halloween Smiley Frustrated At first I thought they were for Halloween but I drove by at night and they had snowmen and stuff out Smiley Frustrated

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving, @WendyB! I’m invited to annual pumpkin pie party at a friends this afternoon. Our family will gather Friday evening for the “feast”!!! {Hope I don’t regain the weight I lost this month!}

Was a good day. Did not stuff my self. Those days are over. I remember TD at my MOMS

she always put out snacks like Dips and veggies. Always stuffed my self on them. I cant resist clam dip. Specially my Moms.. We had dinner and put it all away for left overs. No snacking 🙂

 

I did log it and was surprised it was 800 Calories. But i had a good sized breakfast  and then dinner and pie. Still under my calorie limit Smiley Very Happy
