I reckon it’s an elliptical device. I haven’t got one (not that one, nor any other type), but why would it matter? Are you looking for tips on how to best use yours?

Just bumping this up to see if anyone has used one of these?

As I increase my steps (and work on intensity) my knees are starting to bug me a little.  As I still have probably another 150 pounds to go I'm considering other options.  I'm about to change my living situation, which would give me more flexibility on workouts.  Okay, I admit it, I could set in up in the family room within view of the television and crank up the volume.  I generally find straight cardio boring, and in the past, as long as I watch TV I can push myself through it.  However, I do know I have to improve my cardio vascular performance long before my knees can likely take it.

My plan would be to use it to ramp up my activity level while I continue to lose weight, and in maintenance use it late fall through early spring.

@Bunnybear_05 - I see a 5i a 7i and a 9i listed.  Which one is yours most like, and how do you find it?

I bought mine used from a Facebook garage sale site

I'm asking cause I'm curious how well your Fitbit's recognize excercise on it. Mine does not like it counts 25-50% of movements. So it definitely doesn't smart track it either. I'm pretty sure it's the range of the ellipticals movement and not really the Fitbit's fault. I know one other lady on YouTube has a Nordic track and has the same issue.
My old flex and old charge HR recognized my old schwinn elliptical great.
But no device is tracking this " new elliptical " well. I've tried the One, flex, Blaze and Alta ( on my wrist, my shoe,my waistband...every way possible. )

@A_Lurker, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure that the range of motion is the same on all of them. Just more bells and whistles as the price increases. I think the newer versions might allow you to set the machine to have set stride lengths unlike mine which I just have to manually do with my legs. Which is a hell of a lot harder. It would be nice to be able to limit the stride to what my body is (22")

Oh and it kicks your **ahem** more then a standard elliptical does. I swear more and can't go as long on it compared to my old regular elliptical

@Bunnybear_05 - I know on the treadmill that I hold the handles too much so I tuck my Charge HR or Charge 2 into my bra cup.  I have to do that at work as well if I'm on the plant floor so I'm used to it.  I've been doing some research and have seen some very negative comments about quality and service, especially when ordering online.  It would be worse here as I'm in a small town in Ontario.  So, I'm likely going to go to someone semi-local so that I have a store to go back to if I have issues.  The closest place doesn't carry them, but there is one maybe an hour away that does.  I'm still going to look at one as I like the idea of the three options.

However, I generally look at my calories burned as my indicator of how I did during the day.  I know an eliptical will allow me to raise my heart rate better without killing my knees.

These machine definitely have a different feel then a standard elliptical. I really feel it in my thighs and butt. Not much strain in my knees. So that's good. If you can, I'd try to find a place to test it out first to see how you like it.

I just bought a Nordic Track Freestrider FS7i and am very please with it. I had previously used an older Nordic Track Pathfinder elliptical.

My wife wanted to use a new machine as she didn't like the stride of the elliptical.

So far I'm pleased with this machine as it has a much longer stride than the standard elliptical.
