Hello,
I just got a fitbit a few days ago because of some heart concerns (did all the tests, apparently just mildly low potassium, no ecg or chest xray problems). I am a 30 year old female, no known health issues, 50kg and heigtht 155cm, low body fat according to previous measurements.
my Resting HR is 74 (bit high?), but as soon as I start doing basic stuff like brushing my teeth or doing the dishes, it goes up to 100. Even when I sit on the couch or at my desk at the office it almost never goes under 85. On the other hand, cardio is going great, can keep a steady target rate and the recovery rate is 25-30/minute. After a workout my pulse stays around 80-90 for an hour or so.
when I eat and after, it spikes up to 90-100. I usually eat light meals and plenty of veggies. i also drink water up to 2L.
i just don’t get how basic activities cause such a strong reaction while working out seems to be reasonable. Am I simply not fit enough?
Doctors are not concerned but I would like to make some improvements if possible.

I'm 40/male - 30 days ago I was not working out and my my resting heart rate was 69. A week later I started working out 2-3 times a day and as of today my resting heart rate is 63. From what I've read the more you're active the better (lower) the resting heart rate will be along with a healthy diet.

Taking into account what you mentioned, I would conclude that your heart is "out of shape". When people add cardio based workouts to their schedule, over time, your heart rate will go down. Also, resting heart rate is best recorded as soon as you wake up- this information should be recorded and found in the app. So don't think that those spikes are resting, it's not. Add some cardio 3-5x per week to get your heart rate up in the "cardio" zone. Give it time, it'll get into shape!

Hi there and thank you for your reply!
truth be told, with the lockdown and iso and everything, I have been slacking off but I’ve started walking to work again daily and doing some hiit (won’t overdo it), so hopefully will see some improvements soon!
I have a secondary app called Cardiogram and the readings are slightly different (don’t know which one is more accurate, but I have read very good reviews on that one).
guess it’s time to break a sweat!

You may just have a really smaller heart - a Honda heart compared to diesel heart.
It has to pump much faster to get the body's desired level of oxygen around. For almost anything.
Increased after eating is normal. That much for you may be too.
Likely will mean your HRmax figure is higher than the calculated value.
The bad effect to this if using Fitbit to help lose weight - your daily stuff is likely causing Fitbit to slip into HR-based calorie burn for daily things it shouldn't be using it for.
That leads to inflated calorie burn.
Now usually there also has to be enough step impacts seen to do that, so brushing teeth not a concern.
But what may be best estimated by distance -based calorie burn when daily walking level - could be inflated if you do lots of steps.
