Pixel Watch 2 (Fitbit Premium) Running Time Discrepancy

Hi everyone,

I've been using my Pixel Watch 2 with Fitbit Premium for my runs. Today, I noticed a significantly shorter running time compared to my usual 5K. I ran on a track without stopping, which is unusual for me as I typically run on the street.

I usually pause my run twice to cross roads. Today, without these pauses, I expected a slightly shorter time but not this significant of a difference. The recorded time was approximately 38 seconds shorter than my usual 5K time of 22:08 minutes.

I'm wondering if the running time continues to accumulate even when paused. Additionally, could the change in terrain from street to track have affected the accuracy of the GPS?

Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'm looking for insights or suggestions on how to resolve it.

Thanks for any

help!

Hello @givati0002 and welcome to the Community.  I don't use a PW, but I suspect the exercise settings are the same as my Sense 2.

  • My Sense 2 has an Auto-pause setting in the settings for the Run shortcut.  It says it will pause the exercise if inactive for a few seconds.  Please check your PW to see if this setting is there or not.  I tend to keep moving in place at a stop light.  My elapsed time will continue to accumulate.
  • The terrain change doesn't affect your GPS distance, but it can affect your performance, depending on how hilly your terrain is.  Do your pace maps tend to show a slower pace going up hills?
  • You might also be faster on an indoor track if the building temperature is cooler than the outdoor temperature.

Except for the Auto-pause setting, I honestly don't think there is anything to try and resolve.
