Hi everyone.
So I have been going out walking with the hubby. Now because I walk for short periods on my commute to work, I have a faster pace than him. I am not getting into the "fat burn zone" while we are out. Is there something I can do so I can raise my heart rate but still keep the same pace as him?
Thanks
Lys

Do a slow jog at his walking pace.

Hi. The walkways and road can be quite uneven where I am. My coordination is a little bit off. But I will give this a go. Any more suggestions?

Another option would be to carry hand weights.

Wear a weighted vest.
Run ahead and then walk back to him, and then walk with him, until you run ahead again.
Just 2 ideas.
Really doesn't matter what HR zone you are in as far as calories goes - you are burning the same amount for that distance whether you go his pace or your own pace.
Of course if you went your pace you might go farther to spend the same time walking, that would burn more.
Cardiovascular effort though - yeah, it's probably not a workout for you anymore that is asking the cardio system to keep making improvements - but at least it's probably helping to maintain what you've got.
It would be like squatting a certain weight in strength training - if the weight or reps or duration never went up, it's not a workout for the muscles anymore - but it'll help keep what you got.

you have great suggestions here already to increase your HR. I can offer a slightly different option.. spend the time walking with hubs for the simple task of walking with hubs. Don't worry about the HR factor, you are still out moving and burning more calories than if you were sitting. Enjoy being together and get your cardio in, in different ways.
