Hey,
Although I am fairly active (strength training 3-4 times a week and about 12-14k steps a day) I have a relatively high resting heart rate. It avereges out at about 72-74 but it also fluctuates a lot (from 64-83) over the weeks and I don't really know why. It's not correlated to stress nor my sleep, eating habits or workouts. Any idea why that might be?
Also: I've had a very strong cold for the last week and I noticed that my heart rate increases by almost 20bpm in just a few days! I was at 71bpm before getting sick and now I'm at 87. It never was this high.
Whenever I wake up during the night and I check my heart rate it's between 98-115, one time even 125, while usually it's in the low 60s.
Any insight would be really appreciated
Thank you!

more than likely it is your cold. Our RHR changes all the time based on internal and external conditions. if its hotter, colder, muggier, dryer- there will be a change in your HR. Having an illness or suffering from allergies will have a huge effect on your HR because you are working harder to accomplish simple things that normally wouldn't exert you at all. think about how you feel just talking with a stuffy nose. by the end of saying "no" - out of breath and ready for a nap. once you are completely well, your HR will go back to where it normally is. If you are taking any kind of meds to help with the cold... yep- huge HR spikes.
