Running & Hear Rate Zones

Hi, I got a fitbit around 4 months ago and i have recently started running. I am not taking it too seriusly, I am just trying to run 5k every other day. At the moment I am managing to do it in just under 35 mins.

I have a question about the heart rate zones. I spend about 2 thirds of the time in the cardio 137-167 and the rest in fat burn. I have never been to the peak zone which for me is 167+ with my max being around 150. Is this a good thing? is it becuase I am unfit? Could I get some advice on this?

Thanks in advance

Dan

@Dan_Barker93, it seems the only thing you are seeing is that you are not running hard enough to raise your heart rate into the peak zone - it shows that you are running at your fitness level, and not pushing into the next level.

The cardio zone is where most people train to increase cardio fitness level. The peak zone is for more advanced atholites and usually done in short bursts of a few minutes or so.

I have a Garming device that uses a 5 zone system. I try to stay in zone 4/5 for my intense workouts, and zone 2/3 for my recovery workouts.

IMHO , I don't trust Fitbit 100 % when it came to HR Monitoring while i'm doing any intense training , i'm using Fitbit Charge 2 HR Monitor and it's accurately fine when i'm not doing any intense training.

But When it came to Intense Training , Fitbit Charge 2 HR Monitor failed its duty , because sometime it got lagging , and lost reading of my heart rate.

For my own safety reason , i did use chest strap monitor when i do intense training.

Here is the comparison for the FB Charge 2 V Chest Strap Monitor

HR Comparison.png

As you can see in the comparison , there is no significant difference when it came to Average HR BPM for Fitbit Charge 2 and Chest Strap Monitor

But When it Came to Max HR BPM When ( 90 % Zone ) , as you can see , 176 BPM VS 165 BPM. Fitbit Mostly Fail to read when you got very intense

( Charge 2 show -- in my case )

So For my Own Safety Reason , when it cames to Intense Training , I Always use Chest Strap Monitoring and not relying too much on my Fitbit Charge 2

Thanks for the replys. I have found when running that when I have looked for my heart rate, it has not been able to pick anything up, I guess this could be because as mentioned it struggles someimes. A little annoying I must admit.
