STANDby July? Well, yeah, it is pretty dang hot so we might have to practice standing in the shade or inside for most of the day just to survive …. Nah, just kidding. Get outside and move about. But pay attention to the heat and try get those workouts in early in the day (or inside with AC) and stay hydrated!! (and if you live in the southern hemisphere layer up when you go out) 🙂
How It Works:
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. There are a lot of regulars here, but we welcome NEWBEs, and it is fine to start in the middle of the month if that's when you first see this thread. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total
Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Picture Scavenger Hunt — 3 pictures
The theme this month is one we’ve done before — street art. Pretty much anything outside. Murals, sculptures, graffiti, even … sewer covers.
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

I haven't been great about posting this past week, but I am getting online to at least read some posts and look at the awesome artwork! This is good, it is keeping me thinking about my goals. I can see I need to change some habits in order to get better sleep. Sheesh, 6 hours is not THAT much.

@Starchild68 I'm happy to see you again, we missed you last week. Yeap, sometimes it's not that easy to keep up with our goals but don't worry you will do better these following weeks, you still have a couple of weeks before finishing July. Young adults can get 7 to 9 hours of sleep as recommended by the National Sleep Foundation, with 6 hours being appropriate. Less than 6 hours is not recommended. How is your sleep score?

Thanks for the encouragement, folks! (Also, thanks @YojanaFitbit for assuming I'm a "young" adult...I'm actually what I'd call a "mature" adult, LOL!) I'm working on the sleep thing, stopping the caffeine a little earlier to see if that helps. When I get at least 6 hours, my sleep scores are usually in the high 80s "good".
I do have a street art pic, will post later if I can figure out how...

A little street art in the background, and the foreground too. I found this bike not far from the train station in Baltimore, about 45 miles from the nearest Capital BikeShare bike rack in DC. In addition to the flat tire, it's missing a front rack and light, and a chain. I'm guessing someone brought it up on the commuter train. Honestly, I see no market for a stolen 3 speed brightly painted rental bike, which is why, I suppose, it was left resting against a wall in Baltimore. So now I deem it STREET ART. 🤔

I am not going to meet my goals this month! Our big storm blew the enclosed end of my verandah off so I have been working on rebuilding that. Lots of effort but not many steps! And I got a cold and felt really crook for a few days.

@NellyG Sorry to hear that, good thing is that you're okay it's just the verandah that needs to be fixed. I'm not the only one having some hard time meeting my goal then.
I hope you feel well soon, try to rest a little bit. I'm sure once you feel better you will improve your stats.
