STANDby July Step Challenge and Photo Scavenger Hunt

STANDby July?  Well, yeah, it is pretty dang hot so we might have to practice standing in the shade or inside for most of the day just to survive …. Nah, just kidding.  Get outside and move about. But pay attention to the heat and try get those workouts in early in the day (or inside with AC) and stay hydrated!! (and if you live in the southern hemisphere layer up when you go out)  🙂

How It Works:

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. There are a lot of regulars here, but we welcome NEWBEs, and it is fine to start in the middle of the month if that's when you first see this thread. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week

Picture Scavenger Hunt — 3 pictures

The theme this month is one we’ve done before — street art.  Pretty much anything outside. Murals, sculptures, graffiti, even … sewer covers.

IMG_7741.jpeg

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

We are getting some good pictures this month.  Nice action shot @YojanaFitbit.  Your pic definitely counts @Jotex@Heather-S it looks like you are right on pace for your total step goal for the month.

Welcome @Trillium_Travel, looks like you've got it figured out.  Fast learner.

Hey there @Ify-ginia, this is a good place for your first post!  Glad to see you.  I like your stair goal.  That's always been one of my favorite Fitbit stats.

@Starchild68 I'm having the same problem hitting my sleep goal.  Just a few minute sort some nights. Need to get myself in bed earlier, which is why I'm finishing up this post now!

That street art (mini) is so cute @Baltoscott! Love it. I don’t get outdoors much, and never to exercise or walk (I have a treadmill). So will have to drive somewhere to find street art, but will do my best this month (in the next 23 days) to find and post pics.

Quite the storm last night!  We lost power (still no power this morning).  Got some upper body workout this morning picking up some of the branches that fell and blocked the driveway.  Not ideal, but necessary.  Happy Friday Eve!

I'm late to the party because I only just got my Fitbit for my birthday a few days ago! But I love this thread already, Having a place to hold myself accountable always really helps me with my goals. I'm an obese lady with MS, which in my case manifests in severe balance difficulties and fatigue, hence: trouble walking. So my goals are going to be small in comparison to most people here!

For some reason, I have problems getting this posted, the site seems to think I have posted this already?

Thanks Baltoscott,

I'm still having to back out and find my way. Don't know how to find responses except read all the posts to see if mine is noticed. I've been a photographer for most of my life and studied professional photography since 2014. Always looking for another "photo" challenge. Mostly a professional imposter when it comes to photography.

Finally, it is Friday!  I took next week off, so I may not be posting as much during my time off.  I usually have a hard time with my step goals on days off.  I may be able to get out around town more and find some street art.  The graffiti at the park was neutralized, or I would have snapped a shot of it.

Not exactly ‘street art’ but it is painted from a sketch of our summer memories at the beach for my younger sister. (I’m counting it. 😁)

@SteppingBooks Lucky you! It's great, you will have some free time to rest and do what you like the most. You can also post any other think you consider art! 🤗

@Baltoscott Falkenhan's Hardware really like being different. 😁

@NellyG jeje that's a cute one (the cat). Thanks for taking the time to share it.

@Jotex Great stats! It totally counts like art. Your sister is very talented.
