Tips for new office challenge?

Hi there, is there anybody out here who could share their experience regarding using fitbits at the workplace?

We are a group of 40 people who like to get started but dont know how to start whats a nice way for us to start exploring the fitbit programs:

Our idea now is to start a private group and do weekly battles, but some of us are fit and others are not, how would you set this up?

Cheers

I would set up two different groups. One for the very active and the other for the not so active.

That way the not so active wont feel so bad with the heavy steppers. And its also more in line with what every one does

Also there is a Wellness program for companies to buy that you can set up different challenges.

If the company is willing to buy contact support for more details

Thanks Wendy, thats a great idea. Would you happen to have experienced such programs yourself?

Or do you think 2000 - 5000 steps a day

and group 2

7500 to 10000

would be a nice start of a challenge?

Or are there more ready made challenges out there you would recommend?

Will try this as well and payment is not a problem.

The fact we are in the Netehrlands and fitbit is referring us to the distribution partner, who to be frank does not know anything is a bit of a turn off at the moment.

Do you happen to know a way aroud this?

No I do not know a way around it. But I will flag a mod and hope they can help on the wellness program. It might not be available to you.

As for the groups I think it's a good idea how you have stated between the two of them

You could divide the members into two or three groups based on their fitness level (beginner, intermediate or advanced) and thereby take advantage of FitBit Challenges:
Work Week Hustle
Daily Showdown
Goal Day

At the end of the day/week you'd have a winner from each group...doing this could also inspire each other. I'm part of a group where one person started @ 8k per day...she's now walking 12k per day after two weeks. She attributes this increase to being part of our group.

Personally, I don't think office challenges are a good idea. Someone always decides to get steps that aren't really steps. For instance, riding a Harley is known to increase steps. Why shouldn't they count? Isn't a step anything that makes the step counter increase? What about putting the device on your ankle and putting one leg on the other and shaking it? Should walking in place be counted?

I've seen posts where people stopped talking to each other over this type of debate.

I'd rather see a competition where people get a gold star for not eating any junk food during the day. You know, like decaying animal bodies, chicken periods, and animal secretions.

You can have your colleagues added as friends. Then you can use the existing FitBit challenges as suggested by @MichieFromPA. The thing is, if you start the challenge you will be in every group. So you could also give your colleagues a list of who they should invite based on their activity and get those groups together.
