Tracking cross country skiing

I would like to see Fitbit to track cross county skiing. I have to set my app to “run” to measure my distance. And then when I want to change the category, it doesn’t allow skiing. (But if offers golf). Unless there is someplace I haven’t found, it just doesn’t track that I am aware. I have been a Fitbit user for many years.  I know other trackers do cross country skiing.

@Happyyooper...hey there. I took a walk this morning that was auto tracked. I went into the pencil to edit it and chose cross country skiing.. it came right up. Then I went into the "treadmill" activity that I set to run later in the morning and it would not allow the edit. Try not setting an activity. Let it auto track whatever it picks it up as and then see if you can edit it skiing. Make sure you have the most up to date version of the app. I also have a versa, it could be that your tracker is an older model. I am not sure if that impacts edits or not.. but worth a try

Thank you for your suggestions. I have left it just go and it shows just time not distance.

What did it call the activity?

When I ski, it doesn’t track a single thing. But when I bike or walk, it automatically does.
The only exercise I can’t select on my blaze is run, bike, weights, treadmill, elliptical, circuit training, and boot camp. So when I ski, I’ll set it to run on my blaze, but that only shows time. I want to see distance. So in order to get distance, I have to carry my phone with me and select run in order to get the mileage.

I cross country ski and my FitBit Charge 3 recognizes it as a "Sport". It does not tell me the distance ( I think you have to turn on GPS for it to do that) but I was so surprised at my heart rate and calories burned during my cross country ski outings, they are huge! I had no idea how much more strenuous it is over other things I do like biking or jogging. Thanks FitBit!!

I love cross country skiing! In the last four days, I have skied 32 miles. My other tracker use to at least tell me results but my Blaze, I have to set it for a run. So I don’t think it’s accurate results except for only the time. It is crazy how many calories it does burn. I am in so much better cardio condition in the winter due to skiing.

Keep on skiing!

Same problem for me! Went for a 7.5-8.5 km cross-country ski today. My Charge 3 does not allow me to register this as skiing. The GPS tracking only registers it as 4.5km.

Same problem here! Just did a 8km cross country skiing, my Versa says 5,5km. Have to put in in “run” to show where I’ve been. I can choose cross country skiing if I put it on workout, but it isn’t good enough. No gps! Should be possible to change after the run after you’re finished. And measure the length better.

Same with alpine skiing. Says 300m after 4 hours skiing 😩

I've been recording my skiing as running or hiking, but the recorded distance is really low.  An 18 mile session was recorded as about 12 miles.

My versa 2 is really not good tracking cross country skiing:

- Cannot edit tracked training and choose cross country skiing. I only have pre set choices.

- Amount of calories burned is def not in sync; I workout pretty hard when skiing, but burn LESS than if I took a normal walk in the same amount of time. Not really possible, I think something is really wrong here

I have the same problem. I go skate skiing and it tells me I went swimming.
