Any effect from changes in altitude per gps?

I haven't tried a hike in the woods recently, in the past, the trees have had the ability to slow the gps signal down from one satellite, resulting in a few more squiggles then I actually walked. 

In one park, everytime I walked next to the tree line, the recorded path would shift.
