After having wore my fitbit on my wrist as instructed, and assuming it was accurate for quite sometime, I came to find out that it is completely inaccurate as I apparently do not swing my arms enough while walking for it to catch all the steps! I now wear it on my ankle, don't miss a step count or the correct number of miles. I have checked it to be sure of it's accuracy now several times, by re-driving my walking route with my car, having the odometer set to start at zero. 🙂
Fitbit needs to make an ankle strap for the bit to slip into, but.......the large band fits my ankle perfectly, so all is well!!!! Just thought I'd share incase their are others who have noticed that they are only being credited for half their walk!! 🙂
Have a blessed day, y'all!!!

I've been wearing on my ankle since I got it. I originally had the flex 2. My daughter said it look like I was under house arrest 😆 after a few years it slowly died, so I just purchased an inspire 2. Winter isn't bad to put a watch on your ankle since no one can see but I did find on Amazon anklet Fitbit accessories.

Thanks for this tip! I walk with my dog and the arm swinging depends on how well he is behaving. Also, walking around my studio or hose I am carrying stuff a lot.... no arm swinging. I hate thought of wearing my pricey Sense on my ankle but for doggy walks it would solve the problem.

Well it makes sense though. When youre rowing, you are moving your arms and your feet are stationary. Whereas running, your feet are the ones shaking n baking!

My son has special sneakers that have the function of step calculation. It is very convenient, The only minus is that you cant wear it home after being outside

Thanks for the pic showing where to put the heart monitor. I’ve been wearing mine on my ankle for a couple years and just got used to not having the heart rate. I never thought of making sure it was over the artery. Duh! 😂

Inaccuracy on the wrist is the reason I wear mine on my ankle. I also have a smart watch I’m very happy with. I don’t want another thing on my wrist but I want to continue using Fitbit. I wear my Charge 4 on my ankle with a third party strap or sometimes keep it in a hip pocket without the strap at all. Works perfectly.

My son has such a model of sneakers that has the function of step calculation. It is very convenient; The only minus is that you cant wear it home after being outside. He is fond of different extreme sports like skating, and a month ago, he fell and hurt his knee. Unfortunately, he is limping now, and he had to stop his sports activities. I found on https://remaininthegame.ca/product-category/orthopedic-bracing-support/ankle-brace-support/ some orthopedic knee brace supports, and I hope it will help him. At least he says it's easier for him to walk.

I couldn't manage to get it around my ankle if I tried. I have noticed it's off on the steps though. My old Fitbit Zip won't sync anymore but I've been walking with it in my pocket like I've been doing. I got my new Charge 4 yesterday. According to my Charge 4 I've walked 15,225 steps and 6.99 miles. According to my old Fitbit Zip I've walked 19,665 steps and 8.22 miles. There's a definite difference. I'm going by my Charge 4 though since it syncs and I can take screenshots. I just have to work a little harder to get my steps in that I want.

When walking 100 right-foot steps and seeing if the Zip went up by close to 200 - I discovered it is very sensitive when I wore it on-body and it over counted steps.
Distance I had already corrected with custom stride-length setting but that was initially off for me too.
Help the next searcher of answers, mark a reply as Solved if it was, or a thumbs up if it was a good idea too.
