I use an eliptical about 4 times a week(depending on weather) and summer television is not very motivating....
Any ideas of good shows/movies to help motivate someone on a treadmill, eliptical etc.?

I fire up the old iPad and go to Netflix and stream a movie...lately I've been watching Hell on Wheels (an AMC series...last year watched all of House of Cards...or I'll stream Sirius XM and listen to ball games or old time radio shows...

Don't laugh -- I love to cook. I watch the food network at my gym. All of the cardio machines have tvs attached with cable. I can stay on the machines for more than an hour because I want to see the end of the show.

I almost never watch TV and only about 1 movie per year, and would rather listen to music. However, I have seen people reading while on a treadmill or Lifecycle.

I can't read when I exercise - too much movement, but I do like to listen to podcasts. I have been known to listen to audiobooks, but podcasts are free. I listen to local radio shows and NPR shows, mostly. "Ask Me Another" is a quiz show I have lately gotten in to.
I have also been known to go to Netflix for stuff to watch. I tend to watch old shows like the original Mission Impossible but I just watched Battered Bastards of Baseball on Netflix and it was fabulous. I highly recommend that documentary.

My eyes have to be on something but I find I can't read when I exercise because of the movement. I like the idea of using netflix and watching series.

I watch where I am going - if I don't, I am liable to hurt myself - lol

Haha....If I had to watch where I am going on an eliptical I need to check myself for other "issues".

I've never tried watching something on the treadmill, usually go for music and the "Zombies, Run!" app.

I just finished watching Bones on Netflix while working out! It keeps me interested and I usually go longer than I plan because I want to see what happens!

Last night was the first time I ever watched anything while exercising. I literally walked in place, with some step variations here and there, to an entire episode of Orpahn Black. As with the previous poster, I went longer that I thought I would since I was engaged in the show.

This is the very reason why I usually watch something when I am on the eliptical. When you are engrossed in a show, time moves very quickly and you do more than you planned to.

I have an Amazon Prime account, so I can watch all kinds of shows for free on my iPad. Lately, I've been wtching Downton Abbey. I also did two seasons of The Killing.
