What fitbit is best suited for a climber

Hi All,

I am new in the fitbit community but I would like to get some advice, before I buy my fitbit .

I can see that the charge HR and the surge are more focussed on running, only I don’t run but I go bouldering 3 times a week (fitbit wrote a article about this sport https://blog.fitbit.com/bouldering-your-favorite-new-workout/)

Only now the big question is what fitbit is smart go for, especially the surge cost 100 euro more. When I ask in the shop what the benefits are of the surge for a climber, I basically get no response or useless answers.

Hopefully you can help me to make my choice.

Already thanks.

Consider the FitBit One: it uses a built-in altimeter to count staircases climbed, but hills (and presumably boulders) also count as "staircases." It uses a silicone clip that attaches to your clothes (I wear mine on my beltclip at my waist), although a pocket will also work. It does come with a wristband for sleeping that might serve dual-duty for bouldering. There are a few third-party wristbands available for it, as well.

Give it some thought -- happy bouldering.

Spooky!

I have a FitBit Charge 2 and was wondering how best to use the stairclimbing feature to count feet climbed during a rock-climbing workout.

I'm a avid climber and just got a fitbit charge 2 and I'm really enjoying it. It doesn't give height climbed stats but that would have been awesome. I still get really nice heart rate and calories burned info over the whole workout. There is also a stair climbing feature, which I'm pretty sure isn't counting rock climbs though because all the site says is the feature counts when you do 10 feet "at one time". I may experiment with it a bit and see if I can get it to go off during a rock climb 🙂 but safely of course!
