What's the one song that motivates you?

I have that one song. You have that one song. We all have that one song. Some people have more than one song (that's okay!). What is the one song that gets you fired up?

For me, if I'm diggin' some alternative, it's Sleigh Bells' "Infinity Guitars." If I need to hear some nice hip-hop to get my workout going, my go-to is Kanye West's "Power."  If I need some EDM in my life, I go with this amended version of Lana Del Ray's "Summertime Sadness." As far as song in movies go, John William's composition of "Battle of the Heroes" does it for me!

As a bonus, my good friend @GraceFitbit reminded me how good the year 2005 was, and went with Beyoncé's Crazy In Love .

Above all else, there is the one song that gets me ready to work hard and reach for the improbable. It is one of the most popular songs in the history of the world, and universally one of the most motivating. I am speaking, of course of Ludwig Van Beethoven's "5th Symphony in C Minor."

Now that you have an idea of what songs get our blood ready to flow and our hearts ready to race, we have to know- what song motivates you?

@MorganFit For what it's worth, I'm really enjoying the playlist. I love Nicki Minaj.. It hurts a little to say that. I'm 10 minutes into the playlist, and I'm loving it so far!

I also like the TGIF playlist on Spotify!

Anything by Muse, Eminem, or Britney Spears.

Fave workout songs by Muse album:

The Resistance - Uprising, Resistance, United States of Eurasia / Collateral Damage, Unnatural Selection, MK Ultra

Black Holes and Revelations - Starlight, Supermassive Black Hole, Map of the Problematique, Knights of Cydonia

The 2nd Law - Supremacy, Survival

Eminem songs always have a good beat, though my faves are 8 Mile and Till I Collapse.

And I say anything by Britney because I always think about how if I keep it up, I'll eventually look like her. Smiley Very Happy

I also enjoy audiobooks and listen to them while on my recumbent bike and/or paddle boat. If the story is really good, I will peddle away longer. 😊

Music is a great motivator. You quickly realize how much we rely upon music to workout... when you forget or break your portable music player or phone.

I have rap, electronic, heavy metal and reggaeton (and a few pop songs ... which I would not own up to Smiley Tongue)

Some of my favorites (song-artist)

  • Salt shaker - Lil Jon and the Eastside Boys
  • Nuclear - Zomboy
  • Emerge - Fisherspooner
  • Thunder Kiss '65 (JDevil Number of the Beast Remix) - Rob Zombie
  • Explosive - Diverse (Featuring RJD2 & Lyrics Born)
  • Death By Robot - Feed me

I'm surprised no one mentioned it yet, but my absolute favorite for getting me motivated is No Doubt's "Just A Girl."

For those of you that are fans of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," you might also like the Chantay Savage version.  A lot more mellow with an R&B vibe.  Really great sound.

My non-workout music is all over the place.  I collect sheet music from around the 1940s going back to before 1900.  I also collect 78rpm records and, as much as I can, digitize them so I can add then to my collection and actually listen to them on a regular basis.  The artwork on my walls at work is sheet music covers from 1912 to 1917.  But not normally great music for working out.
