In addition to that fact, even if you could get it to see each step, the formula for calorie burn is still very different as those steps are very different than running steps. Just like spin/bike would be.
You'll have to use database entry, or better the machine readout - but only if you enter in your weight.
So don't just jump on and start moving, get your weight in. If it asks for age, that's for setting the HR zone usually.
Best AnswerWhat Fitbit do you have - my Fitbit One records everything I move to !

I have the fitbit One and it seemed to track well when I was on the eliptical. I did track it as a separate activity because it takes a ton more effort than just walking.
Best AnswerI have a Flex (as does the original poster). Sometimes the Elliptical is tracked (sort of), but most of the time it's not... so I manually add that activity.

Mine tracks the elliptical at the Y, but not my cheapo one at home... so I think it depends on the machine.
Best AnswerElliptical and Stairmaster, I try not to hold the Flex arm on the handle bars. It depends on how aggressive you are in motion on the Elliptical if your arms are stationary.
As my legs are strong enough to push the pedals from levels 1-8, I swing my arms freely.

Zumba related, I tried Zumba Fitness World Tour the other day on XBOX One, but I couldn't master the beginning moves. Though I think I got 200 steps within the first 5 minutes. I'm more of an easy Personal Trainer video like Insanity or Focus T-25.
Best AnswerI wonder if you put it on your shoe when you did the elliptical. Movements such as weight lifting that my fitbit does not track, I track with another app. I use Sparkpeole. You could aslo use lose it. You can manually enter the calories the machine told you you burned. If you have it set up to sync with your fitbit it will enter the calories into your daily total 🙂 There is always a way to track it- even if it doesn't register!
