Hello
Could someone tell me in basic talk about activity minutes? I thought that meant your heart was working too hard and you were in bad shape. I've been getting a lot activity minutes lately, and don't think I am working that hard. I hope this question makes sense.
Thanks
Bonnie

They are basically any stretch of time longer than 10 minutes that you spend doing any activity that is more strenuous than a walk. They are good! It does not mean you are working too hard, or are in bad shape. If you are just beginning to be more active, you heart rate will be higher for the same activity maybe a few weeks down the road, meaning you'll have to work harder to get your activity minutes as you get fitter.
I get activity minutes for walking briskly and I am fit, so I really don't think it's an indication you are working too hard or in bad shape. I don't feel I am working hard when I am walking, but still get activity minutes. Being active in a healthy way does not have to be strenuous, you can walk and not be huffing and puffing, and not drenched in sweat and be doing a great deal of good for your health.
Here is an article that explains it...
