I find it much easier to just put my plate on my scale and tare it, then add the portion of food I want to eat without measuring the "serving size." I would like a calorie tracker that allows me to say I had 163 grams of Wheaties rather than X servings of Wheaties. Do you know of such an app?

I use MyFitnessPal to track my calories, if it doesn't have the per gram calories in for a food, you can create it yourself. I've also got Fitbit and MyFitnessPal connected, so that exercise calories are synched from Fitbit to MFP and my calories synched from MFP to Fitbit. Hope that helps.

@kate1234 I do that all the time in the fitbit dashboard food log. When it offers "2/3 cup" as a serving, I type in 28, wait for 28 grams to appear in the dropdown list, and select that option.
The only thing that doesn't seem to work with is liquids. I weighed my milk, once, and discovered that one cup weighs 120 grams. So I pour in 120 grams of milk and log 1 cup. That way I can have cereal without having to dirty a measuring cup each time.

@SebringDon: that is a fabulous idea about weighing milk and a good point about not messing up your measuring cup. 🙂
