I was instructed by my doctor not to eat cheese if i want to lose weight. Is cheese really bad for you?

Hi @bcruik Cheese is high in fat. However fat isn't necessarily a bad think in moderation. You need some fat in your diet to keep your body healthy. All cheese is not created equally. If you are going to eat cheese, make sure its high quality, preferably made from raw milk, which means less processing and more natural goodness. I hope that helps.

Eating cheese doesn’t inherently prevent weight loss, or cause weight gain, but there tends to be a lot of calories in 100 grams of full-fat cheese (and what cheese lover would eat low-fat cheese, or even dare calling it cheese!) because of the fat content, as noted by @MarciM. Since you have a limited budget in terms of the total calories you can eat, you must spend it wisely: excluding (or at least restricting) cheese will allow you to eat other more filling foods for the same amount of calories.

Yum Cheese. I could OD on Cheese. Love it. So I only keep Cheese stick in my house. Those I can seem to control to 1 a day at 60 Calories

I think it also depends how much cheese and what kind of cheese you consume. I will not eat American cheese- that to me is not real cheese and the fat content in that is insane. However, blue, feta, Gorgonzola, hard cheeses, super stinky cheese- yes please. I put low fat (stop shuddering @Dominique) blue cheese in my salad everyday. I cut the serving size in half. The flavor is so intense I don't need the full serving and it results in 35 calories of added salty goodness to my meal. They key really is to read labels and to go for big flavor. The bigger the flavor, the less you need.
