Entering Vitamin information

Hi. I'm trying to enter the information of my Vitamins into my daily food log, and it won't acknowledge  any of the info that I'm trying to enter manually.  I tried scanning the bar code first, 2-3 times and it wont register!?! I just recieved my Versa Lite yesturday, so the software should be all updated when I opened everything...no?!? This all seems a bit ridiculous,  since its brand new, and I cant enter basic information. Do I need to update again?

I created a custom food for my vitamins.

I was going to do that. But it doesn't allow the option of entering ALL the nutritional information.
