Favorite Recipe Websites?!

ANSWERED

Hey guys!

I've been on the hunt for a website (or several) that has a ton of super easy and healthy recipes. As someone working part-time while going to school full-time I need stuff that is fast and easy. If you have any recommendations PLEASE let me know! Thank you 🙂

I second nomnompaleo.com.  I als like stupideasypaleo.com and paleonewbie.comthepaleomom.com.  Pinterest is the best since I can search for stuff and orgainize all into different boards.  I don't eat 100% paleo so I need pizza crust recipes and cake 🙂 (which I also love chocolatecoveredkatie.com).

Hi, I also have been looking for good cooking websites. My favorite is Supercook. When you go to the homepage, you can type in the ingredients you have and it gives you easy, simple recipes you make with as little as possible. Great for the not-so-good cook. Here is it: www.supercook.com. Enjoy! 🙂

Allrecipes.com is great. Try Yummly, Key Ingredients, What's4Dinner etc. Please, even if you feel the need, don't "buy" any food/recipe app. There are so many free ones and they are usually better. Maybe spending a bit for the upgrades of these apps but don't spend a lot. I spent $60.+ on COOK'N and what a mess that was. The only thing good about that one is the constant real-time scanning of a huge amount of recipes from other sites. It is very complicated and it's nutritional calculations are way off. That's when it isn't crashing. Most sites will let you choose "Preferences" so you can designate low calorie, low fat, fast and easy and/or healthy recipes. Go to the app stores and have fun with the sites there.

Dr. Andrew Weil's website.  He is a founder and director of the American Center for Integrative Medicine and a partner in True Food Kitchen.  My favorite cookbook of his is True Food Seasonal, Sustainable, Simple, Pure.  Look online at www.drweil.com

This week I made his Granola with Nuts, Cardamon and Orange; Roasted Butternut Squash, Apple and Pomegranate Salad; and today, Chicken, Sausage & Roast Fennel Soup.

Here is a recent post where I link to three sites I use a lot.
http://jacquelinechurch.com/perfect-peanut-butter-cookies-dipped-and-salted-and-wonderful/

I have a few Pinterest Boards where I pin and collect my own recipes as well as others' - I find many blogs are not written by skilled cooks and the recipes can be unreliable. Others are reliable and full of fat. Still others promote "lifestyles" or fads/trends. Really, I've found there are no silver bullets and many of the approaches have drawbacks (e.g. juicing is big. not a great idea as a meal replacement since many phytonutrients bind to the fiber that many juicers extract from the finished product.

Here are a couple simple and utterly reliable sites:
http://www.simplyrecipes.com/
http://www.epicurious.com/ (caveat: read the reviews. editorial review seems to have declined and sometimes you'll find in the comments notes to that effect "too much butter" "should read 1 TABLESPOON not Teaspoon" etc. the commenter community there is good. the iphone app is also pretty handy if you're trying to figure out what to do with X that's hanging out in the fridge..)

Also check my Eating and Drinking board; Green is Good and a couple of group boards I have for GF or Vegan or Slow cooker recipes. Most of the people pinning there are pretty reliable.

Finally, I'm a private cooking coach. And I've been at the "get healthier, lose weight" game for over 20 pounds. Key advice:

Exercise more (even 5 burpees or sun salutations, taking two flights of stairs and elevator the rest)
Eat less,
Drink less
Start out each day with a big glass of water (you lose a lot during sleep) and tell yourself it's the first of many good things you will do for your health that day.)

Btw are you getting 8 hours of sleep a night? Most people don't and it turns out, we're hard-wired to need that and our bodies want to put on more weight the less we sleep.

Hope that helps you can find me all over Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and sometimes Google+ or here.
Ever Curious. Always Hungry,

Jacqueline Church

Taste! is an Aussie site, it seems to pull recipes from a number of different places.  There are literally thousands at your fingertips.  I don't know if its geoblocked.  It shouldnt be.

I love using Yummly. It's great because the site allows you to search for recipes through their database by diet (Paleo-friendly, low-carb, vegetarian, vegan, etc.), allergies (eliminates recipes which contain certain foods), and many other factors such as calories, macros/micros, even cooking techniques! It's definitely a fun site to play around with; I've found some great recipes there that fit into my diet plan 🙂

While it costs money I am a fan of http://www.cooksmarts.com her recipes are easy (usually about 30-45 minutes) and she provides all the nutrition info.  Plus you have the option of customizing them for vegetarian, paleo, etc.  I received a year subscription last Christmas for a gift and just renewed it for the upcoming year.
