Hey guys, I'm usually not a hater person but I'm curious about your personal experiences about this...
I recently went to a family meeting, where I found out about this family recipe called "Beef Tripe Soup", which is basically beef belly. I was interested and willing to eat the hole meal but for some reason I didn't like the taste of that specific part of the beef. I was kind of disappointed since the soup was really great. But at the end, I couldn't eat it and I think I won't try that again. I love food but for this I'll make an exception.
What about you? Have you had this type of experience with food? 😜

I've eaten only the Guatemalan style, I'm not sure if all taste the same. 🤔
Good luck finding the recipe.

Haggis. My partner's Scottish and insisted I try it. Everything about it made my nauseous - the smell, texture and obviously taste. I'll try anything once, but haggis will not be getting a second try!

Hi @Kiwistar never saw or smelled haggis before. I have heard that it grows hair on one's chest it's so strong.

Same here, this is the first time I head about haggis, I wonder how it taste? 🙂

If it includes items to drink, I hate animal milk (such as cow, goat...). I have hated it since I was a little kid.

@DavideFitbit I'm not sure! What does it taste like?
@cathm Really? I think you're the first person that I know that doesn't like animal milk (cow goat). In my case, I love cow milk but I haven't taste the flavor of goat milk so I don't have any saying on that. Do you like almond milk?

Hi @YojanaFitbit I use almond milk in things like shakes. I also use cashew and coconut milk. However, I don't really drink any of them plain/straight.

@cathm That's a great option, coconut milk has fewer nutrients than dairy milk. While many brands of coconut milk provide calcium, vitamin A, vitamin B12 and vitamin D, these nutrients are all fortified. I was going to ask you about the flavor, but if you use them in shakes, I think there shouldn't be much difference.

I too am not crazy about a lot of fish, but I try to eat the fish I do like. I'm trying to be heart and brain healthy with my eating, so I'm including fish once or twice a week - which it hard when you really only like 2 or 3 types of fish. I also hate asparagus, just hate it - I will reject a whole meal if it is in it because the smell is overwhelming to me. I am also really picky with meats. I really am not a fan of most pork, and I don't eat a lot of beef, I like chicken and turkey ok, but will not eat lamb or goat. I often just skip meat in a meal all together.

@SKMDC I think that you've really sensible to smells, must of those meals have really strong and specific smell. You look very young in your picture, have you had babies? During pregnancy hormones and particularly estrogen make women super sensitivity to the smells. That happens to me with my first baby and it lasted years.

@YojanaFitbit you are too kind, I'm 42 so not very young, I am not a parent but I, for sure, am very sensitive to smells. I get turned off foods very quickly if I do not like the smell. That is interesting about the sense changing after pregnancy.

@SKMDC Ups, sorry but it's true. 42 is like 32 for you. I'm 39, I'm consider myself young jeje. Now, back to the topic. It make sense that due to super skill to classify food by smell you have to be very careful when testing new food, since you can loos your appetite completely just smelling something your brain consider as unpleasant. You would be a great coffee or wine taster.

Yikes!! I hate any fish or seafood, but I don’t think I could get within some of the items previously mentioned without losing my lunch. My Hungarian grandma used to make pigs blood soup (I think it was called ‘chutennina’ or something like that) and I couldn’t even go into the room where she had it cooling on a windowsill without gagging. it makes me shudder now to think of it, lol!

Wow that's very interesting @Whyshoshoni, we eat something similar in my country too (Guatemala), it's a sausage made out of pigs blood and intestines 😅, here we call it "Moronga" and in Spain they call it "Morcilla". 😱
