I can not eat vegitables. I know it sounds pathetic, but I phisicaly gag when I try to eat them. What other options do I have to get the important nutrients that they provide? Do jucies work? what about multi-vitemans?

Ok - first of all - please know that you are not alone.
For years, I truly felt like vegetables were not good for you. I mean, if the body can't digest fiber, that must mean we're not supposed to eat them!
But, from a child who would pick off everything off the pizza but meat and cheese, to someone who now eats green peppers, onions, broccoli, celery, tomatoes, potatoes, sweet potatoes, okra and sometimes even cabbage!
How did I do this?
Simple. So simple, it will stupefy you.
I got older. As we age, our tastebuds die off. Not all of them, but some of them. This is why young children are typically fussy eaters.
Now - let's say you're over 30. If so, you're just now about to start that process.
Either way - if you want to get to where you can eat them - I need to ask you - how are they being prepared? What seasonings are you using?
I mean, if you're trying to eat okra that's been overcooked, yeah, it's going to be gross.
Can you eat french fries? Try a baked potato with a little salsa.

Thanks for your reply!
I have always hoped that I would grow out of this phase. But I am approaching 40 and it still hasn't happened.
I do try food off of my wife's plate occasionally but to be honest the thought (and taste) makes my stomach turn.
I can however stomach the Green Machine juice by Naked. Is this a fair supplement? Or, just to full of sugar?
My main goal is to loose weight using a slow carb diet.(High protein and vegetables only)

Hi,
So sorry to hear that veggies are not well received. Personally I was never one for vegetables but I know they are good and with a few that I did not hate I had a base to work from.
Things like cucumber and broccli are pretty nutral.. squash, tomato, zucini are great veggies you can puree into a pasta sause (with some potent cheese you will hardly taste them)
Sweet potato with cajun spices from the oven is my favorite (although sweet potato is not actually a vegetable...)
Good luck and I hope your taste buds die off a bit quicker ! 😉

With so many veggies to choose from, it's hard to believe they would all make you gag. Maybe you just haven't found the ones that are right for you. Is there a style of cuisine you like? Indian, Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean dishes (to mention a few) all include very tasty ways to prepare vegetables.
If nothing else cuts it, you may want to consider green supplements. Have a look at the following video:

Have you tried mixing vegetables in with a smoothie? Leafy greens especially are a good addition and their flavor can be masked with other ingredients. There are also a lot of juices on the market that have vegetables in them, however with juice you lose the fiber. I suggest trying the smoothie route. If you don't like it you can toss it, but my significant other side eyes a lot of veggies but is fine with a smoothie--even if it is green. Try a combo with a handful kale (or spinach), half a banana, mixed berries and milk of your choice--you can also toss in protein powder if you'd like.

Several years ago Jerry Seinfeld's wife wrote a cookbook for parents of picky eaters. Lots of recipes in the book for hiding veggies so the kids can't even tell that they're eating veggies. You should look into that cookbook.

Hey!
For me, the real game changer was green smoothies! Do you like smoothies? Like jamba juice? It was great to read that you like naked green juice, I even think that one is a bit intense.... so if you can handle that, you would LOVE green smoothies.
I first heard about them through simplegreensmoothies.com - they have lots and lots of recipies that sparked ideas for me. Now, I just make my own. I buy giant bags of spinache and frozen fruit at costco, or safeway, or I freeze fresh fruit.
My smoothie typically looks like this:
2 cups spinache packed
water (or orange juice, coconut water, apple juice, ect)
two types of frozen fruit
that makes a juice like smoothie. I also like to add a bannana to practically every combo, and greek yogurt with lots of protiene in it is a great addition for me as well. The yogurt and banana make the smoothie better if you can drink it right when you make it, but if I am going to drink it a few hours later, I leave them out because they start to taste weird to me.
I also take the opportunity to add in some suplements, like an emercen-C packet, bee pollen, ground flax seeds, and chia seeds- all have super food effects, but you don't taste them in the smoothie
Once you get used to the spniach you can use kale or other greens. Make sure you put lemon juice in with the kale though.
It really changed my life, it helped me get a serious amount of greens into my diet each day, and after about 6 months, my taste buds started to change. I started to like other vegtables that I hadn't liked before.
Oh, and you dont taste the spinach at all! seriously! My boyfriend thinks they taste just like jamba juice! lol, and he hates vegtables!
Oh! last tip! you put the greens into the blender with the liquid (water or juice) first, and then blend until smooth. THEN add the frozen fruit, and banana or yogurt. But seriously, check out simplegreensmoothies.com!
good luck!

Hard to imagine, but, I think you would get all the nutients from veggies IF, you imulsified them with fruit in a good unit. I have a Health Master and am able to make great smoothies and soups.
Go luck in your quest..... veggies are too good for you to avoid.
