I got a magic bullet in the summer and all we made at my house was smoothies. Now that summer is over does anyone have any ideas for recipes to make in there for winter smoothies? Grapes, spinach and apples are about all I can come up with 😉

I have a Magic Bullet as well. I love it. If you're a coffee fan, try freezing your left over coffee (cool down what's left in the coffee pot, then put in ice trays.) You can use these coffee ice cubes to make a frozen coffee drink in the morning w/ a scoop of protein powder (vanilla or chocolate.) For fruit smoothies, I use lowfat almond milk, a scoop of protein powder (Herbalife or Arbonne makes a good, quality blend) and frozen fruit from the grocery store. You can find peaches, pineapples, strawberries, blueberries, or mixed fruit that's flash frozen and in the frozen foods aisle. I know it's not as great as fresh, but what is great is when you add the frozen versions, you're essentially creating a nice smoothie consistency without diluting the flavors like you typically do by adding ice cubes. One of my favorite recipes is as follows: 8 oz. lowfat almond milk, 1 Tbsp. natural peanut butter, 1/2 frozen banana (I freeze these once they've gotten over-ripe, then I'll pop them in the microwave for 20 seconds to make peeling/slicing easier just before making the smoothie), 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract, 1 Tbsp. steel cut oats. Blend well. You have to pulse this one a few times. You can do a pressed down spin for a count of 7-8 seconds another 2-3 times for a full blend. I also l like to use freshly ground nutmeg from time to time. Spices add another level of flavor.

My favorite smoothie is as follows: the juice of one large orange, the rind of one large orange, a couple Ts of flax, a 1/2 C of oats (uncooked), 1/2 C of low fat plain yogurt, a frozen banana, T of honey, ice, and water to create desired consistency.
