My trainer wants me to eat melon before going to bed. Problem is I can't STAND the texture of melons. Cantalope and honeydew are slimy and watermelon is gritty. I'm looking for suggestions on what I can do with melon to make it more palatable. I like the flavor of them usually, just not texture. Any help/suggestions would be very welcome.

@moiras_mom Have you tried blending them to make a smoothie?

Not yet. He just told me today and I was just trying to get past the "ew" factor. Thank you for the suggestion.

I'm not professional whatsoever, but what's in melon that you need before you go to sleep? I have never heard of this before.

I'm not sure really, but according to this article: http://www.articleoutlook.com/amazing-nutritional-value-of-the-melon/ , it's supposed to help with hydration, vitamins, and a bunch of other "healthy benefits".

Never heard of melon's properties to help you sleep, in my opinion, it is a bit too sweet and cold to eat before bed You can try chopping it up and eat it with some greek yogurt? Smoothies are good too, or if you want to go the italian way, wrap them up in procciutto

I agree. Melon is a great morning food. All that sugar, late night, will kep you awake. Great for digestion in the AM as its full of water also. Travels quickly through your digestive track. Not my recommended food for nights.

That's interesting @moiras_mom, eating melon at night. Well, I would try to eat it with a bit of honey, so you can ask your trainer if that is ok to add.
Good luck!

Still? Since October ??
Melon is delicious, I don't know why you don't like it - perhaps you bumped your head?
But seriously if you dislike it that much I wouldn't even bother. Let it go and choose something healthy you do like.

I agree with @WolfRhan. It will feel more of a punishment eating something you really dislike than something gratifying, so ask your trainer if you can eat something else instead. I bet you can!
Good luck @moiras_mom!

It might be a good idea looking for recipes in the internet. There could be some of them that you like. Have you tried it in a cocktail, with sugar and honey? yummy yummy

Hello Moiras_mom.
I don't know you or your trainer, but as a fitness-experienced person with quite some decent knowledge about diet & nutrition. I can't see the point of eating a melon or anything else before going to bed.
When you go to bed, your body needs to rest and not digest.
I personally advise you to eat your melon in the morning or at lunch-time, but not before going to bed. If you want ot stay hydrated at night, it would be a good idea to drink 1-2 liters of water 2 hours before going to bed ( remember to go for a pee before you go sleeping, so you don't wake up at night all the time ).
I hope I could help a bit.
Cheers.
