Nutrition Not totally on some elements

Because of health issues I have to track the Nutrients and have found if I select part of a food the calories are correct but in this example Potassium COULD be correct.

What happened today..

I entered all of my foods and made sure  the food type coincided with an external Nutritionist table for Potassium. ie All food types had their Potassium in the Fitbit Nutrition tables.

At the end of the day the Potassium Count in the Android App was way over my daily control value. I found after looking at individual items, where I had a partial serving it appears to have used the full Potassium Count in the daily totals.

Today on individual checking by calories Potassium should have been 1534mg, instead the daily total showed 2465mg.

I need some assurances that the totals agree. From now I will check each item as I enter it and see when this error occurs.

My Nutritionist isn't happy because I have been diagnosed as pre diabetic 2 and these readings are critical because of kidneys, pancreas and cholesterol. .

@Colinm39 I think that all that work will pay off, sorry to hear about that diagnosis but you're still have the option to improve your health by doing those changes. I've seen different suggestions to add partial servings to Fitbit logs, I hope this will change soon. But in the meantime, keep putting all that effort in getting better and healthier. I admire your way to see life! 🙂

@YojanaFitbit  Thanks for getting back to me... Every little bit helps..

I have overcome the problem because Potassium was my main concern. I have linked MFP with Fitbit and now I have the best of both worlds..

The comparison testing I did showed that Fitbit Potassium was over calculating by 61% and in health issues with pre-diabetes and kidneys this is critical.  All because changing a portion size doesn't reflect in the nutrition side. Not just Potassium..

But with Google and new directions I'm sure that will be addressed in this difficult world where Fitbit users are now including Health.

When my doctor told me to cut out Bananas I started investigating deeper.. When you have a limit of about 2500mg of Potassium I was amazed that Bananas and KiwiFruit  have approx 350mg,each, even Pumpkin 3.5oz (100gm) has 398mg.   I was amazed..

It's not as bad as it sounds with my health, because at 81, this was sudden and from talking to others and my doctor, it's the hidden health issue world wide. Insulin etc... Fortunately my doctor and I have been keeping records for years and the spike appeared... We are on top of it and no meds..

Gave me the incentive to lose that extra bit of weight.. Already down 5kg (11lbs) in 2 months..  So in  3 weeks, blood tests again and they have added my 1st Covid shot.

Keep well and safe.... Colin

@Colinm39 I'm glad to see that you found out the way to cover that missing feature with MFP. I was amazed to know that information about how many Potassium you can get on just one banana, I noticed it when I started to be more active on the gym.

It's great to know that you have a really good doctor and you have been taking care your health for years, that means that you're wise and cautious. Good for you! Thank you for sharing this with me.

And good luck getting your first shot soon. 🤗

@YojanaFitbit Thanks for the thoughts.

But back to Potassium..

Now that I'm recording in MFP I was amazed at other foods we eat. A potato has nearly 3 times the Potassium as  Bananas and Peaches and Kiwi Fruit similar amounts as Bananas.

I mention this  because those who have to take care of their Potassium levels, in Australia Potassium doesn't have to be listed on the labels of canned products. It's up to the manufacturer if they want to.
