Quick and Healthy Snacks

Hi guys,

 

I got a fitbit flex today and while it was charging, I thought that I would find some healthy snack recipes.

 

I am a teenage girl who has a job and school so I need somethings that are quick and easy to make but are healthy.

 

For breakfast, I have a raspberry and banana smoothie. For lunch, I have salad and for tea, I eat what I am served from my parents, which is 80% of the time healthy. They know I am eating healthy now so they are helping me with healthy tea options but I need some filling snacks.

 

Does anyone have any recipes or websites that they would like to share?

I'd say carrots and hummus, boiled egg with garlic salt, saltines, cucumber with onion dip and more!

Raw almonds. Super quick, very healthy, lots of healthy fat, and generally fairly inexpensive.

i second the raw almonds.  they're naturally a little bit sweet and incredibly delicious.  i also like macadamia nuts, but not too often since they're just so expensive.

Do you almond lovers soak the nuts first? I've heard that helps with...IDK...assimilation , maybe? Wondering how true that is. I *love* cashews when they're roasted, salted, etc., haha, but am trying to develop a taste for raw nuts because I know they'd be healthier.

haha, gee IDK if I can handle that! Sounds too complex. 😉  I know I tend to overcomplicate things sometimes, or I hear/read that something maybe has an advantage (like perhaps soaking almonds?) but then allow that quest for perfection lead to inaction. 

 

Almond prep:

  1. chew
  2. swallow.

Whatever you do ALWAYS combine a healthy carb (fruit or vegetable) with your protein.  The combination is perfection and will keep you satisfied.  Carbohydrates will dissipate without a protein to level it out and make it last.  My favorite combinations:

Boiled egg & orange (or sumo tangerine this time of year)

Reduced Fat String Cheese and apple

Planters Deluxe Mixed Nuts Lightly salted (1oz) and ANY fruit

Chopped grilled chicken and celery with 1 tbsp salsa

Fresh mozzerela and cherry tomatoes. Yumminess = Check

I alos suggest just veggies and hummas or NutThins and hummas

Hey there @carl669 you mean the spontaneous combustion, poisoning, mold or salmonella?

 

I believe the proper storage of raw almonds can prevent most of these issues, if their consumption is moderated, you should be fine. Also, if they are vaccum sealed or left in the open, they can cause problems; as any other fresh or raw item would.

Hi guys I am currently using my little fitbit that you can use in your pocket I'm so pleased to be able to get one from my employer and try this out for the first time. But I just would like different options for healthy snacks I am a picky eater I do however like fruits and vegetables but they sometimes go raw or bad if  I don't eat them in a certain time frame I like salty snacks too like peanuts, almonds, chips (although those aren't a healthy snack) any advice thank you.
