I am looking to change my food habits to improve my health. I bought an Asian Chopped Salad and when I logged in it took have of my points for the day!
Can you provide me some suggestions on light lunch and snacks to bring to work?
Thank you!

Hi @Omayra Welcome to the forum. Congrats on your commitment to eating healthier. It might take a bit more work, but it is well worth the effort. To start, you can mostly forget about anything that is a "kit" or "in a bag". You will find those easy options have a bunch of extra stuff added you don't need/want. Think simple, chop up some romaine lettuce and baby kale, throw in grape or cherry tomatoes, carrots, peppers (green, yellow, red), grilled chicken or tuna (canned tuna packed in water is easy to keep on hand), dress the salad with extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice or a dash of balsamic vinegar. If you need to be able to grab this quick in the morning, chop lettuce and kale and put in a container the night before with tomatoes, carrots, peppers and have dressing in a separate container. Hard boiled eggs are also a nice added protein and low in calories. Think simple and ask yourself, did this food exist 100 years ago. If you answer yes to the 100 years ago, you are avoiding processes food, which is great. Best of luck!

You'll find most kits have a lot of sugar, salt and fat in them. If you are crunched for time, my grocery has a fresh salad bar. You can pick undressed, cleaned, fruit and vegetables, they usually have chicken too and then you can make a dressing with olive oil and vinegar.
Mostly I make a big vegetable lentil soup, chili or other veggie packed meal and then pack it up in individual servings for the week. Half goes in the freezer and the rest on the shelf in the fridge. Then for work I grab yogurt, the entree, and 2 pieces of fruit and a string cheese. That gets me through the day. I do buy a big whole milk yogurt container so I prepack those ahead of time too - a tablespoon of chia, a tsp of honey and mix it all up. It comes in a glass jar so I recycle them for dry bulk goods (beans, lentils, nuts). Anyway it's pretty much my standard lunch. it's easier to eat cooked veggies than salads at my desk.

the best way to do this is to read labels. you have to get to know what different food values are both in nutrition and calories. That's the only way you will really know what to eat, how much of it and how to make it taste great. I eat a steamed veggie salad almost every day. Because I love it. The entire bowl is 300 calories. I finish it up with a giant cup of coffee and a biscotti. It is a bit of work, like Marci said, but once you get to know the food, it becomes easier.
