I am looking for new side dish recipes. My husband and I love chicken breast, sirloin steak, turkey burgers, fat free turkey sausage brats, etc. off the grill this time of year. However I seem to make the same side dishes all of the time. I grill veggies in aluminum foil, cook them inside in a pan/microwave, or I create a spinach salad. I am looking for low calorie, yummy side dishes. Even making the veggies in a new way would add some spice to my boring dinners. I am starting to get bored and that is never a good thing when you are trying to lose weight and make new healthier life style decisions.

how about a greek salad?

we typically just do cucumbers, red onion, olives and feta. sometimes add tomato when they're in season. mess around with the ingredients and make it your own. it's incredibly tasty and great for warm days.

I love Asian-style cabbage slaw. Toss thinly sliced cabbage with a few sliced green onions, salt and pepper, rice wine vinegar, and a drizzle of sesame oil. Add fresh herbs, like parsley or cilantro, if you like.
An easy carrot salad: shredded carrots and green onions with parsley, lemon zest, olive oil, and salt and pepper.
Also, celery salad with white wine vinegar, olive oil, parsley and feta.

i like to cook some quinoa ahead maybe even ahead by a couple of days then i add it to a beautiful saute with lots of lemon garlic olive oil black pepper and set aside. After all i do is stuff peppers zuccinis any vegetable of your choice and then i brush the outside with a bit of olive oil garlic and black pepper and put in the oven for a bit or ontop of the bbq or griller and it looks cute and easy to take to work and i vary it sometimes too with any left over meat or ground meat or rice really what ever youd like . these are good to do even again ahead of time then voila put it beside your chicken and it looks all gourmet. Hope this helps. and try adding stuff to the quinoa too like little pcs of carrot or green onion for colour and smell.
