Does any one have any easy and yummy ideas for tofu? Im new to tofu and it seems like it may be a little more work than I expected, so any tips will be appreciated.
Also, has anyone ever tried using tofu in their crock pot? I've bough extra firm tofu and it seems like it may hold flavor a bit better if itsused in a crock pot.
Thank you all in advance 🙂

I would be wary about putting it in a crockpot because it could get pretty mushy, but if you want to try it, I would definitely use extra firm tofu. Maybe leave it in block form and just use the crockpot to marinate it?
I really enjoy scrambed tofu, with this being my favorite recipe:

Also, I find that baking tofu is much easier than sauteing, as the tofu tends to stick to the pan when frying. I usually just press the water out of the tofu, slice it into 1/2 inch triangles, coat it with BBQ sauce, then bake it at 400 F for around 30 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway. I also like to bread the tofu with Panko bread crumbs and bake it plain, then dip it in whatever sauce I have on hand.
I would also suggest trying tempeh, which is a fermented soy bean product. I prefer it to tofu for a lot of things since it's not quite as delicate and has a more interesting texture.

Try this (Tofu Escabeche) from a recent NYT article (Mark Bittman). Easy and quite excellent. I served both approaches with a salad for great summer evening meal:

I sometimes use tofu as a filler. I mix some into my ground beef when I make hamburgers. It does 2 things, it cuts out some of the meat, and it also keeps the patty moist. I use an 80 beef to 20 tofu. But I have since cut most soy out of my diet so I just do all beef now on my burgers...

The best crockpot use for tofu I've encountered yet is extra-firm tofu cubed and thrown in with Campbell's Hawaiian Luau slow cooker sauce. Minimal effort, maximum deliciousness. Kinda on the spicy side, though. This goes for all of their slow cooker sauces I've been able to try.
Put it on high for an hour, medium/low for another hour, and it's ready to go!

Try this recipe from the New York Times. It is quite simple and very tasty. The recipe offers two versions. Both work well.
