Anyone interested in joining me in a W30 starting Oct 1? Would love to get some simple, quick recipes and ideas for breakfast.

What is the rule of Paleo bloggers?
I'm fairly new to this Paleo thing, making a slow transition to a Paleo lifestyle. I hadn't even heard of Whole 30 until a couple monthsa go when a friend of mine told me she was going to try it for 30 days.

There are so many good paleo blogs out there! Nom Nom Paleo, Danielle Walker (Against All Grain), and Mel Joulwan (The Clothes Make the Girl) are my favorites!
Random tip from my helter-skelter kitchen: I've been using arrowroot powder from time to time in place of cornstarch in sauces/soups, and while it works wonderfully, be very careful that you don't add too much!! If you do it becomes goopy and slimy. Totally not saying I did this and made my husband eat Ghostbusters slime. There is no way that happened...
On a different note... what is your favorite emergency go-to meal? I've been doing Epic bars and Larabars, but since my husband and I have different schedules he's been doing that fairly often (he doesn't like to cook :-p), and I feel like it's kinda defeating the purpose.

@ErickFitbit The Lizard Sauce is fairly mild made per the recipe, but if you added some fresh jalapenos and "smoked" them with the guajillo chiles, it would certainly add a kick!

@MRoseGhostbuster's slime lol
I'm a huge baby for hot stuff! I'll stick to the recipe! Lara bars are great for those in between meal snacks!

Well, I didn't get to make my stew yet, or get a real dinner plan going. Today we ended up having burgers and acorn squash for dinner (we were out at lunch so I had grilled chicken and a plain potato). I rubbed the squash with coconut oil then dusted with cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and pepper. The burgers are just 100% beef. I will start the stew tonight and have a pic tomorrow night. I will also make chicken on Wednesday, probably grilled somehow, and I picked up some brats I will likely have hubby cook on Tuesday as well. Not sure about the rest of the week.
I should have stayed home and made my meal plan, but I decided to enjoy the day instead and am quite pleased I did. I have enough to go a few days at a time, and have some mustard greens, kale, and other items for the CSA to keep me in veggie heaven.
BTW, the burgers were smoked and are fully cooked despite looking a little pink in the picture.

Tonight's Dinner:
Crock-pot Thia Stew on Riced Cauliflower. These are from Danielle Walker's Against All Grain.

This could be served over potatoes or anything of your choosing. This is a repeat recipe for sure. This is what I made with the lamb. The goat turned out to be soup bones. I was upset over that because I couldn't use it in the recipe and didn't realize it until too late.

I guess it's going around a bit! This was last night's crock pottery: http://meljoulwan.com/2014/04/02/slow-cooker-osso-buco-stew/
I put everything in the crock pot right before going to bed so it would be ready for work this morning. I tasted a bit before I left and it's awesome!

Ugh, that's no fun. My husband and I have been dealing with that the past couple of weeks, ick. I did find that Chicken "Zoodle" soup and bone broth were really nice to have around, as well as Le Croiux sparkling water, just for the fizz. I know you aren't supposed to drink your calories, but I made a couple smoothies to increase vitamin intake, and that helped as well.
Also, I mixed a bit of baking soda, lavendar essential oil, rose hips (a bit hard to find, but smells divine!), and made shower bombs. It's basically this but with rose hips (I just like them 🙂 )

Ah, okay. Still no fun though 😞 And you might try those shower bombs anyway, the baking soda cleans the shower (to a point, anyway), and it's just nice to have. I'm a fan of smell-goods.

@JCPRUITTThe picture of the acorn squash and the burgers looks good! Thanks for taking the time to upload and share it with us! Looking forward to hearing how the chicken and those brats turn out as well!
@JCPRUITT@MRoseI've never used a crockpot to cook anything but I have used a pressure cooker before. I cooked raw, frozen pork ribs in a pressure cooker in 30 minutes, then took them out of the pressure cooker, rubbed BBQ sauce all over them with a brush and put them in the oven for 15 minutes. The most delicious and fast homemade ribs I ever made!

Made chicken soup today as the weather has become very autumnal. I made bone broth over the summer, so I used that, 5 cups, and 2 C turkey broth I had as the base, 1 large onion, 3 parsnips, 3 lg carrots, 1 leftover pepper, and 1 lg white radish. I sauteed all that (minus the broth) in @ 1 T coconut oil. I then added the broths and chicken and cooked a bit. I finished it off with a big batch of Russian kale. I did add some salt and pepper, but that was all that was needed as the bone broth was so flavorful.
Yes,, I need to clean my counter more, but there is little space. I will get the last little onion bits up when the pot in done.

Okay, my journey came to an end tonight. I needed to do some test runs of deserts for an event on 30 Oct. I ended up doing a W22 instead.
So what does this mean in terms of my eating? It means I will remain paleo, and am not bringing deserts, etc in. I am not going to start eating things that are grain based, but I am going to relax a little and allow myself to make grain free breads, or use honey or maple syrup in recipes.
I may try another one in January once the holidays are over. I wish everyone else luck in finishing the journey.
What was my downfall? Not planning well. I think I will take some time to plan out menus. I need time to work on them and figure out how to batch cook. I have lost a clothes size, but I am darn sure that was from reducing inflammation. I can see a hug difference in my face too.

@JCPRUITTI suddenly got a craving for chicken soup, I wonder why?! Thanks for sharing the amazing picture and explanation of how you made it! I promise, I don't care about your counter as long as the food keeps looking this delicious!
Thanks for sharing the pictures of your journey and congratulations for losing the clothes size! Keep us posted as we will continue to be interested if/when you get back to it!

Hey, 22 days is a lot longer than a lot of people make it! I'm so glad you have been sharing so much on your Whole30-journey! You've definitely given me plenty of ideas, too!
