What is breakfast?
It`s first meal that you eat in period of 30 min, since you woke up.
What should contain?
"You need a good source of complex carbohydrates and sufficient protein,
vitamins and minerals to get your day off to the best start. The BREAKFAST contains the all the nutrients you need to sustain your energy levels, stay fuller for longer and achieve maximum health." -
Luigi Gratton, M.P.H.
Most common breakfast:
1. Simple carbohydrate-based Breakfast
High calories, low nutrients, low protein. Does your day start with
white bread, a sugary cereal or a pastry? These foods may give
you a short burst of energy but they lack the protein, fibre, vitamins
and minerals your body needs. Shortly after eating, you'll notice
your energy levels drop, making you feel tired and reach for
unhealthy snacks that can lead to weight gain.
2.No Breakfast
Low calories, low nutrients, low protein. Do you skip breakfast and then
snack to get the energy you need? Skipping breakfast means your body
has to draw on reserves of nutrients and water that will have depleted
overnight. This can make you feel tired, irritable and prone to snacking
on sugary foods for an energy boost.
WHAT DID YOU HAVE FOR BREAKFAST?
"If you want things to change, YOU have to change." J.Rohn

One cup of large flake oatmeal and half of a grapefruit.
Same as every morning during 20 years of competitive running.

I like to make a casadilla, but use hummus for the cheese. So a low carb tortilla, spread with 2TBSP of hummus. I then use a diced veggie burger (Dr. Praeggar or morning star typically) and saute with no oil and a bit of shredded cabbage. Remove from pan, then put 1/2 tsp olive oil, lay the tortilla in the pan, spread with the mixer and fold over, brown both sides and eat with siracha. Unconventional but it works for me. Aboiut 300 calories

I admire people who can actually make a healthy breakfast every day. I'm so bleary even making coffee is a challenge some mornings. I always have a bowl of oatmeal, juice and more coffee than I should. Then usually some high carb snack as I run out the door.

So ZeijoManojlovi, what are some examples of what WE SHOULD eat for breakfast?
04-24-2015 15:33

ZelijkoManojlivi, I usually eat a Weight Watchers cup of oatmeal with 1/2 banana, water. Past few days, unsweetened cereal with 1/2 cup of 2% milk and some fruit @ 8:00 am.
My Fit alarms me @ 10:00 where I have my morning snack. 80 calorie yogurt, with a bag of 100 calorie cashews or almonds, and berries. Lunch is @11:00 lunch.... 4 oz chicken, vegetables, 1/2 carbs. 2:00 afternoon snack...carrots, hummus, banana etc. Dinner, fish, lettuce, tomato, apples, olives. Snack
And lets not forget the 100 oz of water.
Too much information?........ because we were just talking about breakfast? 🙂
Sincerely,
Trying to stay healthy

@BurdsNest Nice tracking of your food log, I actualy had to input some things into the logg on new, so I could recalculate.. Do you get with all that food near the cal`s that you burn over the day?
I can`t write down my options of breakfast, becouse I`ll be in offence with forum regulations, by the way @HelenaFitbitthank you again for clearing some things up with regulations. 🙂
It is described in on the top in my post wih question, how makes me feel my breakfast , full of energy, light stomach,... 🙂

i checked the loseit data on my breakfast ... and it is always high in fat (50%) and about equal proportions protein and carbs. i think the average is somewhere around 500 calories.
i am amazed at how little you guys eat. i don't think i'd survive on a 300 calorie breakfast.

Reuel, we are all different sizes, bodies, and weight, but I just ate a breakfast/lunch/morning snack for 622 calories
Coffee
Apple
Two Morning Star Sausage Patties
64oz water
Two salt free rice cakes
1/2 wedge of Laughing cow cheese
1 cup of strawberries
One boiled egg.
80 calorie yogurt w/ 100 calorie cashew mix and berries.
I ran 1 1/2 miles on the treadmill this morning, and a cardio workout totally appropriately 450 calories burned. Now, I didn't eat what I burned. I actually burned what I ate last night.
So, based on my Fit, I can still eat 1426, with a 1500 caloric intake and a 250 deficit.
So...................you're not eating too much!
SIncerely,
Eating healthy

@reuel You would be surprised, if I told you that breakfast with cca 200 cal and with 100% nutrients (with ratio 60% carb, 30% protein and 10% fat) will keep more alive than your breakfast.
Rules of healthy and balanced nutrition ara 5-6 meals a day and enough water or green tea (no sugar added).
This is basic, you can eat tons of Healthy food, but it won`t give you result that you want, if you 2-3 times a day..
What`s your dailly consumption of cal`s?
