I probably am much in the same boat as you because after doing online research i had the same habits and symptoms.
I still will occasionally lose control and binge eat by having 2 meals withing a couple hrs but it is much rarer now than it used to be.
Having the Fitbit and being able to know how many calories i am burning as well as figuring out what calories i am eating thru research has given me a base of knowledge to use to combat it.
I started exercising quite a bit and working at losing weight and once i started seeing results in weight loss and feeling better i started feeling good about the process and when i think about binge eating i slam the brakes on it by reminding myself how i felt before i started losing weight and how i don't want to backslide and start all over again.
I have type 2 diabetes and suspect high blood sugar and eating the wrong foods was causing depression so i felt like eating all the time and moping around as well .
After i got into the medication for it and regulating my my carb intake and purging just about all sugar from diet i felt much better mentally and this helped with binge eating as well i believe .
I found once i controlled the eating and started feeling good about it it snowballed in a positive way.I
Not sure if this will help you or not but there it is.
Best AnswerI would reference this page and if your doctor is not concerned, I'd switch doctors and call the hotline on it:

I'm sorry, I have been an occasional binge eater and for me it helps to plan meals, keep only whole foods in the house and exercise. I also lean on friends and family for support. For me, the trigger is depression. Exercise really helps keep me even keeled.
