I’ve just updated my Inspire 3 on 26 August and the auto-recognise function seems to have completely changed. Previously, I had auto-recognised walks - whilst I was walking, the watch screen was completely normal - it showed the time in big numbers, the cumulative step count etc. On the app, it would show each walk total so I knew how long my walks were. Since the update, I now get an auto-recognise function that totally overrides my watch screen as the walk is happening. The most annoying issue is that I can’t see my cumulative step count! It only shows the step count for that given walk. How on earth am I supposed to know how many I’ve done in total as I’m going along? It won’t let me flick off the auto recognise function from the watch screen either. The only way I can get rid of it is to say ‘finish’ on the watch screen - in which case, it records my walk on the app with the wrong length (because I’ve cut it short). How can one of the very main functions of a Fitbit not be available anymore?!

Thanks to this forum i have managed to stop the irritating auto tracking of short walks -- this morning i did not notice it had started tracking and it drained my 90%full battery in 2 hours. Ridiculous. However, another big issue is that it is no longer capturing zone minutes. This fitbit is fast becoming rather useless.

Thank you for your post "NeverReadyEddie".
I can now use my Fitbit like I use to.
In a nutshell:
In the watch = AUTO-START off and AUTO-STOP on for each exercise,
In the phone Fitbit app = AUTO-RECOGNIZE on and time set for 10 min for each exercise.
I tried it and it does indeed work just like it use to by tracking my exercise without removing the clock on the watch and without any intervention by myself before or after the exercise.
Could they have made it more confusing? It worked before. What did they gain?

So far this is my biggest issue. I haven't looked if the recording of these exercises are different now, though the auto exercise function does seem to start about 20min after exercise should have been detected (or when you used to get the earning zone minute notifications) and then when I shut it down it only shows the time since it auto started.

I've been successful with the settings I posted earlier, but I admit it's only bicycle and walk that I use.
When I mentally note the time I leave and arrive back, and then look at the app later to examine the bike ride I was on, it always seems to show the correct time leaving and arriving home.
I don't have to start or stop my exercise, and it is all done automatically, and the clock face shows the time (as I like) through the exercise. It usually takes the ten or fifteen minutes after the exercise before it shows on the app, but the times are correct for me.
I set:
In the watch itself = AUTO-START off and AUTO-STOP on for each exercise,
In the phone's Fitbit app = AUTO-RECOGNIZE on and time set for 10 min for each exercise.

This does not work for me. When I go to the exercise function it doesn’t allow me to do anything. If I swipe up nothing happens. It just stays on the same screen. I used to love my Fitbit but I hate this feature and if I can’t turn it off I’m going to have to find a different device.

To access this, you click on Exercise days on the Fitbit app main screen, then click the three dots in the top right hand corner of the next screen, then that drops down a selection of Activity settings. Click on that. It should produce the screen to select Ignore of each type of exercise or not.
