Fitbit on shared Google account?

I just got a notice that I'll need to move my Fitbit onto my Google account. My wife and I each have our own Fitbits, but we share a single Google account (for Gmail, etc.). Will we each be able to run our own Fitbits from the same Google account and if so, how will that work? I suppose one of us can create a new Google account but it seems like a hassle to switch back and forth between Google accounts to control a Fitbit.
