Help with incorrect step, distance, and zone minute tracking

I’m getting really frustrated. I’ve had this inspire 3 for about two weeks. I’ve tried everything I can find on here to make it more accurately work. I’m wearing it on my left, non-dominant arm and I’ve selected dominant (someone suggested this would reduce false results). I take it off of washing dishes or knitting or anything really where my hands are moving. I’ve got a cold, so I haven’t left the house today and yet it says I have 8 zone minutes, 1.42 miles and 3,460 steps. I’ve been at my desk most of the day.
what else can I do to make it more accurate?  I synced with my fitness app on my phone and I thinks I’ve closed my ring for today and met my step requirements. But there is no way.
really really frustrated.

Having a similar problem but after reading this entry (i.e. washing dishes, etc) I was sweeping my house today - does that affect results in a wonky way?

  • I have an iPhone and Health says I have 5771 steps.
  • I use an app as well called Steps that reports 5941
  • Fitbit says I have 9539

I have walked about 2 miles today.

Hi, @Jenrwill14 & @woodtype welcome to the community, as you correctly understand arm movement is analysed and evaluated as "steps" these articles explain How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity? & How accurate are Fitbit devices? In this third-party article How to make your fitness tracker count steps more accurately - The Verge offers another comment. It's not just Fitbit that has this problem. If you do have steps you want to delete How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities? provides guidance.

I hope this helps but if you are still stuck please post here again.

Cheers
