Since it sounds like no more Inspire Fitbits will be made by Google, I'm thinking about buying an extra one now for when my current one dies. But how long will the battery on it be good, if it sits around for another year or two before I start using it?
I really like the simplicity of the Inspire 3, and don't want a bigger, heavier, more complex model.

Hi, @LottaReeds. Welcome to the community. We do not have any indication yet about future Fitbit devices, but there is no indication that the line is at risk. If you are concerned it's worth watching the current prices somewhere like "PriceRunner" where you can get alerts to changes and see historical data. Look for retailers offering discounts which may herald newer devices or the rundown of stock outside the usual sale periods. Battery life depends on the number of charge-discharge cycles, I've not kept a rarely used device so I can't offer a view of how long the "Shelf life" is. Here in the UK, our consumer warranty period is 2 years, while we do see some members needing to approach "Customer Support" with a claim I wouldn't describe it as notable.
I hope this helps.
Cheers
