Question about Inspire 3

I am thinking of getting my husband the Inspire 3 for his birthday.

He really only cares about three things:

(1) Slim/light weight/minimalist design

(2) Telling time

(3) Knowing what distance he's run (GPS of the exact path he's run is not necessary)

The Inspire 3 covers the first two fine, but I can't seem to find a clear answer for number 3 with the few reviews I've read online. It seems like you can definitely track your distance run if you link it to your phone's GPS, but he doesn't run with his phone. Does the the inspire 3 alone track your distance run, without having to connect it to your phone/gps?

@linercapr , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message. I'm glad that you were looking into the Inspire 3 for your husband. 

All Fitbit devices can track the distance run, walked without the use of GPS. 
The GPS connection is optional. The Inspire 3 needs to connect to your (your husband's)  phone to track a map with the help of the GPS connection. 

But if chosen, he can track his activities without a map , so no need to have a phone with him during the activities.
