The screen is not blank it's just very, very dark. Was barely able to make out the code to install it and the battery icon to see it is fully charged. It just never lights up enough to see any of the other screens. Tried the hard restart and think I succeeded, but still not lighting up.

Hi, @SunsetRunner welcome to the community, may I suggest you check that you have not inadvertently engaged "Do Not Disturb"?

From the clock screen>swipe down & check DND is off>check sleep mode is off>swipe down to settings>display settings>set to normal or max. Check you are not in a scheduled "Quiet mode".I hope this helps but if you are still stuck please post here again.

Can't see the screen well enough to do any of that.  This is a new Fitbit and came from the store like this, so I didn't accidentally do anything.  I am exchanging it for a new one which will hopefully work.
