So many problems with Fitbit Inspire 3

Anyone else finding their Fitbit is now completely inaccurate and near on useless because of it these days? Seems to only have been an issue for a few weeks but right now I’m experiencing:

- Distance is only tracked when I’m tracking an exercise, all other times it does not record any mileage

- Steps are showing one number at the end of of the day and another the next day (e.g. yesterday I walked about 20,000 steps which showed correctly at end of day but today it shows 11,000 steps for yesterday) or it shows the same steps for multiple days. Even when the correct step count was showing yesterday the calorie count was out (I.e it was closer to what you would expect for 11,000 steps)

- Zone minutes do not show accurately when having tracked an exercise. It shows correctly on my watch at the end of the exercise but then calculates one zone minute per minute regardless of what zone you are in on the app.

- No longer shows pace per mile for a recorded exercise, just gives a single pace per mile at the bottom which is grossly inaccurate and not the same as the overall pace per mile figure nearer the top (which is correct)

- Less important bit still annoying. When recording an exercise on my watch, the constant top figure used to be the mileage which I found really useful as I liked to see my mileage and heart rate at the same time. Since updating the top figure is now the current time of day which is less useful

All in all it’s pretty frustrating that what I would consider multiple basic features are not working as expected

@LH1903747, your observations are in line with what many other Inspire 3 users are reporting after downloading the most recent device FW and App SW releases, which confirms that Google-Fitbit has once again taken the Inspire 3 product performance another two steps backwards with their "performance improvements and bug fixes".

Unfortunately, there is not an option to go back to previous versions of FW/SW, so we can only hope that Google-Fitbit resolves these product performance issues with another FW/SW release as quickly as they created them.

Well, I guess there is some consolation that it's not just me. We have 2 Inspire 3's and, as of yesterday neither one will synch. You can see what my screen looks like. This is extremely frustrating, since I'm going to be doing a lot of walking in the next week and want to record it. Device is right next to phone. Help!

This usually works for me when I have sync issues:

  • Uninstall the app
  • Unpair the Inspire 3 BT from the phone
  • Restart the phone
  • Restart the Inspire 3
  • Verify that the Inspire 3 shows up as an available BT device on the phone.  If this step fails, then a Factory Reset of the device will be required
  • Reinstall the app
  • Complete the Inspire 3 setup process

Oh, and do yourself a favor by not adding your phone as a Device in the app when you go through the setup process again, because that enables MobileTrack, another great feature, which reportedly causes wildly inaccurate step counts now.

Thank you, Bill_209. After I reinstalled the app, not only did it keep all my history, it loaded the 3 days where the data wasn't showing up. Now, it would be nice if Google didn't make this necessary. And, I got rid of my phone as well, as you suggested below.

It appears that Fitbit's vision of adding the phone as a Device in the App to enhance the fitness tracker product experience was completely lost after Google acquired and decimated Fitbit as a Company.

This is making me crazy. Every day it’s something else that changes for the worse on this device

exercise tracking- mileage on runs, weird walking pick ups when I’m not walking.

google- please fix this.

I'm at the point where I have to Uninstall and Re-Install the app on almost a daily basis. It seems to "forget" the Bluetooth connection. I'm just using it to track my sleep at this point, because that seems to be accurate. Everything else is suspect.

Seems to me that everything Google buys they unfortunately end up ruining. I'm going to try your above steps for my Inspire 3 as I can't even get it to pair now. Multiple uninstalls, reinstalls etc. and I'm pretty tech savvy and these things are supposed to help your health and stress and after hours are trying to do this it certainly is not. I didn't want to reset it as I get financial incentives for my steps and as I understand it a reset I would lose all my data. Hoping Google won't abandon it like they have in the past with other products that are epic fails. .

do we have recourse? they keep telling me they're "working on it" when I call in. Mine is still under warranty but they say a new one is no better as it's a software thing.

what's better? Apple Watch?

I just bought the Inspire 3 a week ago. I’m returning it. I was on the phone for almost an hour and even have a case number. It isn’t syncing to the app. This is the third time I’ve gone through this hassle. Therefore, I’m done!!!!!

Interesting to see so many varied issues listed in this thread. My problem was the loss of detailed sleep numbers, which began in mid-October 2024 after everything had been working fine for the 10 months prior. I have tried all "solutions" found online, I have spent hours on the phone with Fitbit/Google support staff running through various "fixes", and my Fitbit account shows that I have an open "support case" that still indicates "in progress". Unfortunately, there has been no update since mid-October. The last support person I spoke to claimed that they (Fitbit/Google?) have determined that it's a software problem and a new/replacement device would not solve the problem. I have no idea if that is true, but I took note of your post indicating that you were also told by support that it is a software issue and that a new/replacement device would not solve the problem. I am very, very frustrated and am increasingly worried that Google has completely and permanently "broken" my Inspire 3.

UGH.  I just sent mine back for a Warranty replacement but now am worried that won't even solve the problem of the Inspire 3 not connecting to my app.
