HI there,
I just bought an Inspire HR to enjoy connected GPS and track walks straight from my wrist rather than going via the Fitbit Android app, and it seems to correctly map the route implying that the GPS signal is consistent and solid.
However, the recorded distance is waaay off. On this route today, the recorded distance was 2.32 km, but planning the same route via Google Maps (and just using my common sense from the number of steps taken), the actual distance is at least 4 km. This means that the recorded distance is nearly half of the real distance and this massively impacts my pace and general trust in the tracker.
What is wrong here? Why isn't it applying some kind of checks and bounds to its distance logic? I mean it's pretty straightforward to approximate the distance from the plotted line, so what's Fitbit's excuse for being nearly 50% off that target?

@djst2 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!
Let me help you with your GPS distance. Not sure why the distance wasn't recorded correctly although the device does use your phone's GPS chip for this. Start by logging out from the app, restart your phone and log back in. After this check these instructions to improve the GPS recording with your device.
Let me know how it goes.

Hello - I'm having exactly the same problem.
Used a Blaze for a while - no problem - my distance was the same as my husband (also on Fitbit) and consistent with Google Maps on my phone.
My brand new Inspire HR is consistently recording about a 25% shortage in distance ran. I undertook all the various troubleshooting recommendations and then ran alongside my husband on Friday - his showed 5..54km, mine 4.4km - although again Google Maps showed the distance as consistent with my husband's tracking. What should I do next? I'm doing a 10km charity run next Saturday and rally want it working correctly by then …..

Hello! I too am having the same problem. I use my inspire hr and make sure it says it's connected to my phone. I get a map of my route, but the distance is *always* wrong. I run similar routes regularly, and track them with Map My Run. Fitbit results are random and different every time, whereas Map My Run consistently shows the correct distance.
Is there a way to make Fitbit calculate distance based on connected gps and not stride length?
